Many of the nerfs have absolutely not been necessary. Meanwhile we have seen next to no buffs for weaker builds. So even if what you are saying was true (it’s not) it’s not comparable to the way things have been over nerfed/gutted.
Exactly, there are more nerfs than buffs
@Krazyflipz but currently only ONE build has “nerfed to ground” and that’s passive focus regen. I can still use health regen and stamina regen on my builds just fine. You guys can have valid complaints but saying that nerfs should never happen in an Early Access phase is the DUMBEST statement I’ve ever heard due to just how extreme it is. If you just keep raising the power ceiling of every build that’s how you get PoE. I’m in agreeance stuff needs to get buffed but focus regen was so incredibly broken with only 1-2 armor pieces that I think you’re insane if you don’t think it needed to be dialed down. I am running focus % on hit right now and it still works OBJECTIVELY fine.
I and many others can’t agree with your arguments due to how extremist the ideas are.
No one at any point has said there should never be nerfs. This is a strawman.
The point is things have been over nerfed and we have seen way more nerfs than buffs. This is not by any means extreme. Trying to frame it as such makes you come off as disengenous.
We are seeing a trend of anything being slightly strong instantly getting over nerfed.
Buffing the numerous weak builds is also by no means a threat to increasing the power ceiling. Again a strawman.
The idea that focusing on buffing weak builds is too hard and it’s easier/faster to nerf anything slightly strong is just lazy balancing and should be recognized as such.
Development is a process, which includes tons of resources, most of all humans, time and with that money. So if you just “buff everything but my current build” you can’t sustain a profitable business. It is about efficiency not only effectiveness. Cutting a tree with a butter knife and with a chain saw is both possible, but surely the chainsaw is more efficient.
And there have been 2 patches so far in a game that is barely a month “old” if at all (given the fact it is still in alpha stage).
So why not let people vote how they feel?
Are moon studios “overnerfing” the game? Is nerfing builds in early access something you can live with?
- Stop nerfing the game
- Keep balancing combat
- Only buff weak things don’t nerf as much
i think they should nerf more stuff and is part of game developing. For example i think focus is too strong in general and should be nerfed.
I voted to keep balancing.
I don’t agree with the original post here at all. I don’t feel as if anything has been overnerfed. Plus, it’s impossible to say anything in the short-term. The release of the complete game could be a year from now or even longer. Everything is going to go through many iterations before then.
This is not a complete game. Thinking that anything you’re playing right now will stay the same is simply not realistic. Nobody should be tied to any single thing. Change should be expected.
Balance is hard, you pull on one thing to nerf it, something else gets stronger. As much as we love attaching ourselves to a “build” let them find the “balance” between having everything equal and allowing for ways to make the game trivial that is the essence of a game with random gear grinding.
I don’t think you can just vote yay or nay. It’s not that easy. Devs have to keep balancing the game of course, but keep the nerfing to a necessary minimum. Let players keep their toys. What skin is it off any one’s nose if it’s in the regular PvE and doesn’t affect you. When PvP comes around and someone has an advantage, then sure that needs to be balanced out.
It is still not about taking a lollipop away from a child or not. The point here is, that it is early access, and nobody is entitled to keep their “toy”.
When developing a game there are 2 options:
-
develop and release when finished. During this process things get nerfed 10000 times, but nobody sees it. The nerfs and buffs happen inside the studio and not in public
-
make it early access, so people can support the project and you can (maybe) add some suggestions from the community and get help with finding bugs. EA players are basically Alpha testers. And once something needs to be fixed, that people liked, you get a shitstorm.
Nobody is entitled to anything. be thankful, for what we get and trust in the devs. Or, if you really do not want things to be constantly changed: don’t buy early access. Its really as simple as that.
There have been 2 Patches. There will surely be many many more to come. And with each patch other things might get nerfed, buffed, added or removed. deal with it. don’t get attached to things you use in an alpha build.
and again, be thankful, that you are even allowed to play the game, and don’t have to wait until everything is finished.
In the end its the devs choice if the think something is OP or to weak. And if that somehow fell on your lollipop that now gets taken away, thats unfortunate, but it is what it is.
And by the way, will we now get a “please don’t nerf XY” post after each patch? Or do we accept, that things are in constant flux during this stage?
You must be related to a developer because the defense you make is not normal. Let it be clear to you that it is early access and we have the right to give all the feedback we consider necessary. If you are very happy with everything, congratulations. But stop telling every person who thinks to wait for version 1.0 if they don’t like it. You’re already tired.
let me check my crystal ball…
Yep, definitvely, yes
(feel free to link this prediction to every upcoming whine)
i am looking forward to pvp/coop release. because i would bet 50 bucks, that we will get some sort of “please nerf XY” post from the people, that now complain about nerfs, once they get stomped by some sort of meta build.
Maybe the devs should make a category for this.
“Wicked Nerf complaints”, and never look into it.
Yes, but have an AI bot respond with endless variations of “we’re looking into it”.
you voiced your opinion we’re welcome to voice back as well with our reasons why for/against yours that’s literally it.
Yes we get it’s early access and things change but we individually are allowed to express our opinions. I enjoy when a game is balanced and offers a challenge but is also fun. Lately I feel like every nerf just takes fun out of the game. Either make every build equally powerful or nerf all of them and dont make some more viable than others as then you are forcing people to chase the meta.
They go hand in hand. You get “OMG this stuff is OP” before a patch, and “OMG Why did you Nerf my OP stuff?” afterwards. With PvP they happen at the same time with people against saying “Ha Noob Get Gud against my OP stuff”
I see a lot of people saying “its EA so its expected for balance reasons”, which is like yeah, of course. Especially since they plan to implement multiplayer at some point. But my counterargument is…why stop people from having fun?
Is the point of a game not to have fun? Is the point of continuing to play a game not because it is fun? Why actively impede playing from having fun? Its all optional. If a player purposely does things like that, its either because the obstacle placed in front of them was too large and they felt like the only way to escape it was to do this OP thing in the first place, or because they wanted to because it seemed fun.
Isnt of looking at the hows, look at the why. Why are so many players going for this method in the first place? Maybe its because they are having fun with it, or maybe its because something is so difficult, they feel the need to do this in the first place to cross it.
Im not going to be as blatant about it, but I also dont agree with all the nerfs, especially when there are a lot of other things that could be getting done instead.
It feels a bit especially weird because not in this game as far as customizing weapons or effects is “fixed”. Its all randomized. So its not like I put a +10% damage dealt on my weapon. If I got lucky enough to get any effect on anything it shoule be left as is because it was all up to RNGesus. I sure didnt actively choose to only give my stuff +1% of anything. Hell. I wish I had more control over the effects that get placed on my stuff (because even the gems are rng)
