Having sufferred this issue for months, and having tried all the above proposed solutions (and others not listed above), I am really happy to report that I seemed to have solved the issue by updating my BIOS to the most recent version. Thanks to Nick_Bebop for suggesting this as well!
Now I’m looking forward to putting some more hours into the game!
You might want to give the files in your drive public access At the moment it’s set to request access.
But then again I would probably wait on a dev/ mod to confirm that these files have no sensitive data in them
I played co-op with another player for two days without any issues. During that time, we completed two zones/areas successfully. However, on the third day, the game started crashing consistently after about 5-25 minutes of gameplay.
The crash happens without any error message. The game briefly freezes for around a second and then closes completely.
At first, the issue appeared during co-op, but the crashes still happen even when playing solo. I also tested this with:
my existing character
a completely new character
a new world/realm
solo gameplay without joining another player
The issue persists in all cases.
Troubleshooting Already Tried:
Verified game files through Steam
Reinstalled the game
Updated graphics drivers
Disabled background applications, including Wallpaper Engine and similar programs
I’ve checked the files. In Player-prev.log, which is rather large, what stands out is the extreme number of repeated errors of this type:
Graphics.CopyTexture called with mismatching data size
This is, as a result, a likely duplicate of Joy’s bug reported here (she mentions the same error message being repeated a large number of times and also crashes after around half an hour):
Edit: After checking Xopuc’s save file, while the character also uses magic, it seems to be fire magic exclusively, so the ice-magic angle can probably be discarded. Many of the observations in Joy’s post also cannot be found in Xopuc’s crash log, which also notably has the game crash less than three-and-a-half minutes after starting.
Yes, the error is similar to the one in Joy’s post, but her error is somehow related to Crucible, whereas in my case, i haven’t even reached it yet. And it occurs even in a new world on a new character, without using any magic
Good to know! Due to the similar error messages, rather than following her assumptions as to the source, I find it likely that hers isn’t related to the Crucible or magic either.
Oh, I found this post. It seems there’s a discussion about such crashes in it, but I’ve tried almost all the fix suggestions from there. Maybe I should write there instead of creating separate topics?
