I think this is referring to the item duplicate exploit via the games backup files and/or changing PC time to reset vendors etc.
but you are correct, changing the price won’t change that. the idea is probably that people would not find it worth the effort to use the exploit if respec was cheap. or something in that direction?
I don’t think balance should be made to fit an Early Access issue. Only the devs might have an inkling of what the balance might feel like in the 1.0 release.
That being said if the Ember drop rate is what it currently is I do think respec should have higher Ember costs or a Ember vendor with unique cosmetics or something. I feel like I need an Ember sink but I realize others with low Ember counts may feel differently.
Jokes aside, i fully agree. at the very least i find respec to already be too cheap. I’d have said use an ichor. so you at least have to kill a boss and decide if either you want additional slots or respec. But i also know people that hoard ichor so
Ah, okay. I didn’t get any of that from the original post. ; )
But that’s even worse. “The game is too easy for people who cheat.” Sure. That’s why people cheat. If cheating didn’t make something easier, it would never be done.
But nobody should ever design a game around people who cheat. Either fix the things that allow them to cheat (as you’ve said) or just ignore those people altogether.
Otherwise, you’re punishing the people who don’t cheat, which is definitely not the right solution.
Some people just like to watch the world burn. This is as bad as the one suggestion someone made on the subreddit that enchanting should cost 1 gold or 8 silver instead of just 1 silver because they are 200+ hours into the post game themselves and have amassed a fortune. If youve done all that great. But others shouldnt have to suffer for it. Nobodies forcing anyone to respec or anything.
Instant experience potions shouldn’t even exist, imo.
If anything, they could be a durational buff to gain more % experience while leveling—aka playing through the game.
i think it might be inspired from the souls you can find in cark souls games. They sometimes just lie around and you can pop them when at a bonfire to get those last 200 souls u need to lvl up. But since you do not (normally) lose xp on death, i can see that it is a different thing here.
I love the idea of an “gain x% more xp for 600s” kinda potion. Imaging a crucible run with this on. oh baby.
