The limited fast travel was created so you could go back to sacrament and then resume your journey. The level design was cleverly designed to allow multiple interconnections between areas, creating a series of shortcuts, that are really fun to discover and reward the player allowing shorter travel times between places. And allowing fast travel between all whispers would simply devalue all of that. Why bother finding shortcuts if you can simply fast travel.
Fast travel also removes the opportunity for the player to really get to know the map, it may feel tiring to transverse the world sometimes, when you just want to get to the end goal, but maybe that is just a sign the player is too much focused in the end result and is not really enjoying the journey.

I agree but it is also true that there is a need for a system that allows you to travel faster than the current system

Iām honestly fine with whatever.
A true Fast Travel would come in handy when playing with your friends, so that you all can go immediately wherever you need to be (i.e. Savepoint before a boss), without it we would all rely on a few main points where to teleport to and from forcing players and their friends to explore the same area multiple times.
Not that big a deal tbh but you can see how it can become a hindrance when in multiplayer.
