No Spam Fast Travel Please

I like how Fast travel is implemented it actually allows you to use the map connections but is for shure too slow, a possible solution is to add Movement speed out of combat for example the Woven Ring that now only gives you infinite stamina for claiming can oslo give you infinite stamina while running (so it has minimal utility in combat) and a +50-150% movement speed out of combat and it could be given to you as a gift as a gift for an early game quest, another system could be that every time you interact with a whisper you could get 100% movement speed out of combat for about 3 minutes and to unlock this feature you would have to pay Seneschal, the same way you unlock the respeck. Oslo Eleanor and Whittacker should have the door open so you don’t’ have a loading screen every time you enter their shops

If Moon Studios decides to make fast travel between every echo possible please consider disabling it for Pestilence outbreaks

I think a good compromise would be to allow players to teleport to the furthest echo from Sacraments in each respective zone.

or keep the system as it is now but give the possibility to teleport to echo at will once every 20 minutes

I like the idea of enabling only one “free” teleport per zone or the timer restriction. Also restrictions based on pestilence outbreaks. Other options to restrict it could be :

  • A focus cost to teleport, or losing all focus when teleporting.
  • A rare consumable item to enable it.
  • Maybe something linked to the fog-of-war.

Can I ask what it takes away from you if they enable free teleportation?
It’s a win-win for everyone.
IF you want to run everywhere, then go ahead. You don’t have to use that feature if they implement it.
IF you don’t want to waste time and prefer to teleport to your desired location, then you can do that.

Everyone is happy. So, why would you want to keep it out of the game?

1 Not having fast travel is to make sure that players learn the map with all the paths and shorcats (as the CEO also said)

2 I already know from experience that teleporting everywhere can lead to degenerate gameplay (more on the topic later) teleporting is always the most effective thing in terms of efficiency once implemented even if you want to explore anyone will end up using it all the time

3 Since the cost to travel is insignificant then the player is not encouraged to plan his excursions and therefore will not do it, this will lead him to teleport back and forth multiple times even to do small things (this already happens among scars with multiple houses)

4 People with ADHD will suffer even more from these problems (similar to how they are more vulnerable to youtube shorts tiktok etc) (I’m not making this up randomly I’m in my third year of psychology)

So in short you see how sometimes people against their will end up doomscrolling, on a smaller scale teleportation without a cost in a video game leads to the same problems, it doesn’t matter if you are a responsible individual it can happen anyway.

don’t we have confirmation already, that whispers need to be upgraded first to travel to and from them?

this prevents that suddenly 20 fast travel points show up on your map. then just upgrade 1 whisper per zone and u are good. u can even chose which one to upgrade.

I’m not aware of this information, but if it’s true it just means postponing the problem to late game (I hope I’m wrong and it doesn’t actually constitute a big problem for the gameplay)

i mean i get that instantly having 20 fast travel spots makes people lazy. but if u have to actively upgrade them first, then i do not see much of an issue. maybe we even get realm modifiers to further individualize that. guess we will just have to wait and see.

I can’t wait to try this Bonfire Ascetics like feature
