Hello, I hope I have followed the instructions correctly. Crashpad reports are in the folder. Player Log File, dxdiag file, and Data Store are shared as individual files. You should be able to view all of it from the following links:
For context: I’ve been playing this game since it launched into early access, and never once had issues with it crashing throughout all of 2024. I did not play the game for most of 2025, and am aware The Breach update was released, as well as some other smaller ones that followed it. This compelled me to come back and enjoy the game some more as of just last week. Exact same computer since 2024, have played a number of games, some of which are very demanding on my computer (such as Dragon’s Dogma 2), but no issues, and no crashing.
Since I started playing this game again over the past week or so, the game crashes on average once per hour. Sometimes it’s 2-3 times in just a 1 hour time span, other times I go for much longer without a crash. I have tried several things: A fresh game install, verifying game files, updating my GPU, making sure no other processes are running in the background as I play the game, and turning every single graphical setting in the game down to the lowest possible level (which I shouldn’t have to do considering how powerful my cpu is), and none of it helped.
I am unable to cause the crashes to happen reliably, so I don’t have a good image to share here. The crashes seem to happen at random, but if I had to point at what all of the crashes have in common, it would be that they occur usually when I am moving between different areas within a zone and the camera is panning. Crashes also tend to happen when I move into a different zone, open up a menu with npcs (trading), or when I enter/exit through a door requiring a loading screen. I believe the crashes are memory-related, as when the game starts to crash, I tab out to the task manager, and can see the memory usage spiking at 95%+ before my computer becomes unresponsive for a moment and the game crashes. Sometimes the game just causes my entire computer to crash. I am unable to play the game for longer than about 2 hours without it crashing. I would appreciate and all advice and help here.
I have forwarded your post towards the proper channels.
I woud really like to help you troubleshoot this issue, while your issue get’s reviewed by the actual developer.
Could you confirm for me the date you created your Realm?
You can see this while viewing your Realm’s file in Datastore. Find this by:
Windows Key + R → Insert this command: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\DataStore
24313 → order by Date Modified and right click the latest Realm.dat → Properties → Created: ….. ?
Please pass that date on!
Another known problem is a single realm having terrible performance issues, but not your other Realms. Please check this by creating a new one, and see if your crashes remain.
If we can get started with these 2 answers I can help you further, hope to hear from you soon!
Hello Silas, thank you for the response and initiative!
Looking into the 24313 folder within DataStore, and opening one of the .dat files in notepad, the realm I mostly play on shows the following:
“createdAt”:“11/4/2025 11:47:48 PM”
That should be Eastern time zone in the US.
I have tried playing on my other realms today. I didn’t observe any crashes on those other realms, but I was only able to play for a couple hours. I’ll let you know if I do experience any crashes on those other realms.
Hello, small update: I tried that fix, and it definitely helped! In 6 hours of gameplay over the past couple days, I only crashed twice, and both crashes just involved the game immediately closing out. No prolonged freeze, or computer crashing like I usually get. I have not had any crashes on my other realms, but admittedly about 5 out of my 6 hours have been on the main realm.
I have been playing in the Lowland Meadows the past couple of days and the game has been crashing to desktop after 20 to 30 minutes running. Other than the occasional traversal stutter, I haven’t had any issues like this since the Breach update until now. I hadn’t explored the lowland meadows at all until the past two days so the last time I reopened the game, I loaded in next to the windmill in the meadows and then I walked straight back to sacrament and then to the Nameless Pass, walking the way, not fast traveling. I wanted to see if it could just be a Lowland Meadows issue. Sure enough, the game didn’t crash at all, only a stutter walking to exit to Nameless Pass from Sacrament (not a stutter nearly as bad as before the breach update, btw). I was able to roam the nameless pass for over an hour with no crashes before I exited the game. DRAM usage is higher in the Lowland Meadows than it is even in Sacrament, by a GB or more sometimes. Crashes would happen while jumping between rooftops or trying to strike an enemy while falling from above, and when running to chest and opening it at once, the menu would freeze. I tried the gameinput restart fix and it didn’t fix the Lowland Meadows crashes. I’m still early enough in the story that I haven’t been in Marin Woods yet to see if there is similar behavior. This thread helped me know that it isn’t a hardware issue on my side, so thank you! I was testing different overclocks earlier, and even though I reset to defaut for my GPU to eliminate the possibility of me making an error, I still felt worried. I’m rooting for NRftW all the way! I’ve seen how well the rest of the game has been optimized since launch, so I’m confident in the devs to get this game humming along smoothly.
