Crash To Desktop while loading realm after recent updates

After a recent patch, every time i try to load my character the game crashes to desktop.
The character was made after the breach updates and played 30+ hours on it, now after a 3 month break from playing, the game crashes when i press continue.

Additionally, running the game as administrator makes it so i have no characters/realms to pick and have to start over, but this doesnt happen through steam.

Any suggestions? Id rather not restart, as i already had to do that after the crucible update.

Hey Jesse_Chester,

I will help you with this.

First, if you run the game from the .exe your saves are not being loaded. Don’t create anything in that version because it will be lost when that is being fixed.

Alright;

  • the game crashes only when you click Continue?
  • can you go to your Realm tab, and use the option “start from latest whisper”?

Let me know if that option does or does not work for you, and we’ll go from there!

The game crashes when I try to load the realm with the only character I have.
Pressing continue, or continue from last whisper, results in the crash

Can you create a new Realm, join that physically and then try your old Realm again?

My character can join the new realm i just made. That seems to work fine. But crashes when i try the original realm again

Jesse please allow access to your files. You can do so by:

  • Right click the folder/files → share → share (again) → set Restricted to Anyone with the link and permission on Viewer
