Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking about the current item enchantment system in the game. As it stands, we’re allowed to enchant an item only once, which is a great feature, but what if we could take item customization a step further?
I propose the idea of adding a secondary mechanic: allowing players to alter/include one of the item’s attributes using RNG (random number generation). This wouldn’t replace the standard enchantment system, but rather complement it. After enchanting an item once, you could choose to “roll” or “add” one stat, giving it a chance to be slightly improved or even transformed into a new attribute altogether.
This RNG-based alteration would introduce an additional layer of strategy, as players would have to weigh the risk of potentially getting an undesirable stat versus the reward of enhancing their gear further. It could also encourage more experimentation with builds and gear combinations.
Additionally, what if we could take it even further and allow players to re-enchant items? This feature would give players the opportunity to reset an item’s enchantment, either to correct a less-than-ideal enhancement or to adapt to new builds and strategies. The re-enchantment could come with a cost—perhaps higher than the initial enchantment or requiring rare materials—to maintain balance and prevent overuse. This would add an extra layer of flexibility and long-term investment in our gear, allowing players to keep improving their favorite items without the need to constantly farm for better versions. It could also help reduce the frustration of getting stuck with suboptimal gear due to a single enchantment mistake, mainly at the beginning of the game.
What do you all think? Would this make item customization more engaging, or do you think it might disrupt the balance?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
