Are you F. Joking with me I play from GFN ???
Please don’t shout at me.
I’ve never used GFN so I don’t know how it works (I only know the concept).
You have no access to any settings whatsoever via GFN?
Silas
We are investigating the issue, GFN users are harder to find the issue due to the fact we cant access your files or folders, as well as not having access to change settings like the firewall issue which is most likely causing this freeze for you.
Hi team, I originally made a post on this thread in january and now its april with still no real fix for my issue. logs were provided multiple times. sadly my game still crashes on startup so its impossible to play the game
That is sadly not an unexpected wait, this bug has been particular hard for Moon to crack.
If the soft fixes so far found and suggested have not been helpful, you will have to wait until the cause is found. My apologies!
Silas
understandable. i appreciate your efforts
for 3 weeks now I can’t play, crashe to desktop every time
Hey gantinx, that is not to much to work with
.
Can you elaborate a little bit more?
- Are you crashing on start up? On loading a Realm?
- Any mods installed? What is your device/system?
- What is happening right before the crash?
I will also have you submit some files for us, please see here: How to Properly Report Bugs! for the instructions.

on start up, day 1 i got in fine, so I turned down the video settings and then went to character creation and about 10 secodns into character creation crash to desktop. The next 10 times i tried to log in at startup at moon studios screen and crash to desktop. I restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled, file check with steam and nothing worked. That was about 3 weeks ago. In the past week or so on startup I can get to the end of the moon studios screen and then it crashes to desktop. I have not had this problem with any other games I play - Enshrouded, 7 Days to Die, Grim Dawn, SoulMask, Styx(Fucking scored and got it for $1.99 on Steam and it rocks).
here is a log files
same here. It can get past the moon studio screeen at the very beginning and then crashes to desktop right after. Sucks goat toes because I wanna play the game
@Anira_Sara @Gantinx Sorry you guys have this bug, it’s been a very tough one to crack for Moon.
Could you please both start with trying the suggested soft-fixes? They are listed in the Solution part of this topic.

May i ask what are your system specs and if the game is on a SSD or HDD.
May i request you try to add NRFTW as an exception on your firewall. that is a known blocker as seen above.
Here is accumulated post about all fixes in this topic that have worked for atleast 1 person, and might help for more.
-
add game as exception to firewall, check results
-
disable Vsync for the game, via Nvidia Control Panel. check results
-
set Vsync to Fast via Nvidia Control Panel, check results
-
spamming/smash the spacebar while going through the booting process
-
change your monitor refresh rate from xx to 60
-
enable AVX in your BIOS
-
set your systems calendar to Gregorian or Recommended (Time & language - Language & region - Regional format)
-
put “-force-d3d12” as a launch parameter in your Steam library
-
Xbox Controller: download and install xinput9_1_0.dll into main installation folder (wth the .exe)
-
MacOS - Crossover: install latest “Gaming DirectX for Modern Games” & “.NET Framework 4.8” ( Alex0007: "How to run `No Rest for the Wicked` on macOS with…" - Mastodon )
If one of those solutions worked for you, please let us know! This is incredible important for the team. Thank you and may you have a blessed Wicked experience!

Finally! This solved the issue, though it’s a workaround really. Here’s the result of my findings:
-The best one by far is #4, pressing the spacebar to skip the logo animation (I normally use an Xbox controller so I didn’t know you could skip it…). Works like a charm!
-#5 works as well, though that severely limits the refresh rate of my monitor so it’s not useable for me.
-#8 worked too but the DirectX 12 performance is complete asscheeks with extreme stuttering, so again not useable.
-Tried #1, #7 and #9, those didn’t work at all.
-As I don’t use Vsync I didn’t even bother with #2 and #3, and for #6 I couldn’t find any option on the BIOS for “enabling AVX”. Not an Apple user, so no #10 testing possible.
In conclusion: there’s something REALLY screwy with the transition from the Moon Studios animation that still needs to be identified and resolved before launch. Hope this helps with the debug process!
