So, that fight is literally a horde of birds swarming you. The combat of this game is great when it’s you versus one or two enemies. With three, it starts becoming borderline bullshit. Here, you can have up to 6-7 mobs chasing you and diving you. And you have to clear them every single time you wipe on the actual boss in order to try again. This fight (or, “phase” of a fight) makes absolutely zero sense and does not belong in this game. Period.
Compared to the rest of the bosses (or even the rest of the game), where you do genuinely have meaningful combat, Winged Brood phase 1 is the textbook definition of an F- tier fight, simply because the game’s combat is not designed for it. You can’t have “meaningful combat” when a horde of enemies is gangbanging you.
It’s not about the fight being hard (I’m not sure if it’s the hardest fight even in this game), but it’s just out of place (something like Demon of Hatred in Sekiro, but much worse). If anybody can provide a compelling argument as to why this fight belongs in this game, I’d be happy to hear it.

I liked it and will cast my vote that it does deserve to be in the game(my old PC did not like it tho and dropped frames for this act quite a lot
).
It gave meaning to the cinematic that portraits many of those creatures emerging from the cave and swarming the place. I would not enjoy fighting them one by one, knowing there are hundreds of them around me, just waiting for one of their own to die, it does not make sense to me looking at it from the story perspective.
I do agree that combat is not optimal when having that many enemies, but as you mentioned, the fight itself is not that hard compared to some others(of course depending on the gear, I was using sword and shield and had no issues, no idea how other weapons perform in this fight).
TLDR: i liked it and hope it stays

So you didn’t like the fight.
I totally disagree with you that it doesn’t belong in the game, this fight precisely tests your environmental awareness, resource management and how you can dismantle larger groups piece by piece.
Yes it is difficult and perhaps a bit too difficult to be honest, especially with some weapons and tactics will do better than others. But it ABSOLUTELY belongs to the game and is well designed, as well as I think is a welcome addition in terms of Boss fights. It’s not a 1 v 1, which is a nice break from the traditional boss fights.
The fight needs tweaking that’s for sure but it sure as hell belong in the game.
IMO it’s a pretty terrible fight.
I especially like the part where I can’t see my character as the camera swoops in at foot level while Mr.bats tries to dive bomb you.
I especially like the way you’re forced to play the fight with the same one attack run, one attack run over n over.
If you have damage the fight isn’t the end of the world and peoples opinions I’m sure will vairy dramatically based on their chosen weapon set (fist for me) but I think both the mechanics of the fight and execution are pretty terrible.

I will agree that the fight can be quite tedious, the one attack run, one attack run is definitely not what I wish the fight was. I also think that for the first phase, the enemies move too much, they jump back a lot making you miss a lot of your shots and they do that sky-dive move too often making it very difficult for you to do anything other than run away when there’s 5 of them around you.
In concept it’s an interesting fight but in execution it needs tweaking.
this fight was very easy for me (before the big stunevrything update) with both a 1h weapon (straight sword) and a 2h weapon (scythe) just stand at the entrance of the arena, they cant attack you all at the same time and they stand close together, so you can hit more thne one at the same time, but the ai of the flying creatures is very easy, they dont spam their stuff so you aren ot stunlocked at all, even when i was surrounded by 4 of them
I think it depends on your build. I loved the fight, it felt really intense and cinematic, like a struggle for your life against a swarm of monsters. I was using a rapier and low weight dodge, so maybe that made it more enjoyable for me. But there was nothing poorly designed about it, just a classic horde boss with a ton of buildup leading to it.

Only one fly at you at a time, and when you try to hit them, they all try to back away instead of hitting you. One quick way to kill them is to use lightning infusion, run around in circle for them to all spawn and aoe them all down.
