response to thomas’ latest tweet but i dont have a twitter account.
i’m a huge fan of developer commentary style talks. maybe im ‘video essay-pilled’ , but hearing the thought processes behind decisions tends to be more interesting, and has far more staying power than 30 seconds of footage.
but, at the same time, it might be hard to have that commentary style without revealing too much of the update, so maybe consider a middleground between a deepdive and a trailer?
I would prefer having the developers talk about the game and then show some gameplay. I think a lot of gamers are growing more and more skeptical with animated trailers as it is NOT gameplay. Especially with some recently released titles. It almost feels like the animated trailers are smoke and mirrors to hide shitty gameplay. This is not about Wicked but about some AAA and even ‘‘AAAA’’ game studios…
Showing gameplay is becoming more and more important to gamers as it is honest. Too many companies are trying to leverage their name and brand thinking they have stacked so much goodwill that they can get away with it.
Since this game is already in EA I think it would be better to provide in depth information for the road ahead. I think people who already bought into EA will appreciate that more. Furthermore, I do think it would be better to have more smaller Wicked Insides that focus on better demarcated topics. Have a separate Wicked Inside to show the elemental rework and another Wicked Inside for the Faith based classes, when they are ready.
I quite liked this Wicked Inside:
But, maybe have something smaller or once every quarter of a year. I wouldn’t mind if it was text also with more details and then some images.
