Yes I prefer nobody has transmog option because it makes a better game. It is very simple to grasp why it makes a game better. I do not expect you to understand.
You can not substantiate why it makes it a better game, so I don’t really care until you do.
Elly, i hate to say that but this game does not want to be exactly like a classic arpg like diablo. It also got the soulslike label on it which shifts the focus more towards the players skill. Gear is not everything and should not be,… elly ![]()
No. Appearance should correspond to the gear you are wearing, especially during PvP. If I see somebody wearing heavy armor, I expect them to be less agile in their movements and would adjust my playstyle accordingly. However, if they actually have a light build due to transmogrification, I may have lost that battle because of the visual deception.
I would agree on transmogrification if it only affected the client side, meaning only the player using it would see the changed appearance, while other players would still see the original armor.
I’m sorry Tom, but this game is not more souls than it is diablo in that department. Loot stat weights are vastly more important here than it is in Souls games, so it can not be ignored in such a fashion, nor should it because it incentivizes players to disengage with the game systems.
It cannot be ignored but it also should not be overrated.
The problem we all have i guess is that the game identity is not fully clear now. Will it be more the souls way in the end or more gear oriented.. both must be balanced out. I only hope this does not shift too much towards gear because there are enough games out there
Even beyond just this general sentiment you’ve expressed, I think everyone enjoys when their characters feel like they are a part of the world instead of some hodge podge of circus colors. Most of the time, people are using features like transmog specifically to immerse themselves in the world further and to form deeper attachments to their characters and, as a result, the game itself.
I’m “baffled” that I have to explain something so simple.
It makes a better game because not having transmog encourages more interactions with the games’ systems like crafting gear/random loot/farming certain enemies.
Not having it encourages creating different builds because you want to look a certain way. If there was transmog you would simply choose a look and never have to make a different build to look a certain way. Transmog destroys class fantasy. Not having it makes it so you look like the class you are playing.
Not having it gives a constant and growing sense of progression because you can’t just pick a good looking armor set and look the same for the whole game.
Not having it means everyone will look more diverse and simply wont choose the best looking armor. And if you want to look good using different sets of armor you have to get creative and you have to earn it. Not having transmog is a vastly more interesting system that will force all the players to be more creative with how their gear looks and will create more diversity.
This game is not trying to be like Diablo 4 where your choices (apart from class selection at the start) have no consequences. Choices should matter even if they are only aesthetic choices. You don’t get to look like a lightweight assassin while wearing a chunk of metal on every part of your body. This makes the work developers put in to create different looking sets of armor obsolete since no one is gonna look like they are wearing 80% of the armor in the game because everyone would just transmog to the best looking ones.
If there was transmog for example in souls games something called “fashion-souls” would not exist or wouldn’t be as big of a thing. If they add transmog to this game it is just gonna die in terms of fashion.
If your answer to this is “it’s an option just don’t use it!” that means you have no idea what an intended experience in a game is and you don’t grasp that not every option is a good option to have so don’t even bother answering.
If you are roleplaying as a knight you would just wear something that looks like a knight. Why are you wearing some hello kitty hoodie in the first place? Get yourself/craft/farm a good knight armor and play with that.
ok, yeah .. fine with that. As i said somewhere: If transmog gets into the game i would not like it, but i would play it anyway ![]()
What i dont like about this and also about the respec, travel everywhere, mobs scale with player level, starter-kit discussions. All this is pointing towards total freedom and total comfort .. which sucks out the identity of the game .. is it so hard to accept its a good thing that not everything is possible?
But i really like the discussions here ![]()
You typed so much to say so little and add absolutely nothing to substantiate your claim.
It makes a better game because not having transmog encourages more interactions with the games’ systems like crafting gear/random loot/farming certain enemies.
Players are already interacting with these systems, this is a non-factor.
Not having it encourages creating different builds because you want to look a certain way.
No, it encourages you to use a random assortment of powerful gear because of the nature of RNG games. You never “look the way you want” because you’re supposed to be chasing stats on equipment in this genre. Your suggestion is in direct conflict with the goal of the game, therefore a non-solution.
Not having it gives a constant and growing sense of progression because you can’t just pick a good looking armor set and look the same for the whole game.
Solved by requiring to you hit max level and finish the story to unlock it. Next.
Not having it means everyone will look more diverse and simply wont choose the best looking armor.
How can you possibly be this wrong? The exact opposite happens in this scenario; everyone uses end-game gear at max level and all look the same. Boring.
This game is not trying to be like Diablo 4 where your choices (apart from class selection at the start) have no consequences.
It’s trying to be many things, including a better Diablo. The idea that this game isn’t directly mixing and matching the ideas from all the greats has me wondering if you actually played it.
You don’t get to look like a lightweight assassin while wearing a chunk of metal on every part of your body.
My mesh armor wearing dex/faith 2h scythe build with 40 equipment load and light weight would like a word with your claim.
If they add transmog to this game it is just gonna die in terms of fashion.
Quite the contrary, but I can only conclude you are operating in an alternate reality to come to the conclusions you have.
You wasted so much time on a response that long that still did nothing to prove your point. You’re right, don’t bother, we have nothing further to discuss.
@RomoloHero
One of the things I would love to see is a dye system. So we can mix and match different pieces of equipment to create our own unique look.
Yes! I loved dye channels in GW2, would absolutely love dyes here as well.
You lack a certain level of intelligence to understand everything I said. You make no sense and have divested yourself from reality because of your love for transmog system.
I will give one clear example of your delusion. You said “My mesh armor wearing dex/faith 2h scythe build with 40 equipment load and light weight would like a word with your claim.” You are so far away from reality that you don’t understand that you still don’t look like a lightweight assassin you simply look like your mesh armor. Jesus how does your brain function.
I am done with this conversation. It is pointless to try to make someone blind see the world.
But as you said. Its the identity of this genre. You want to trick the system by not accepting what you find. I mean you accept the stats but eventually not the visual part (or the other way around).
Why are you playing games of this genre anyways?
I understand its about the perfect look?
I know you want your complete fulfilled fantasy and skip the efford to earn?
idk, i kind of understand you .. and i also want to come to this point in any game but transmog is like cheating. In my opinion the perfect look must be earned hardly. Because everyone wants to look good
Thats a quote from another thread about “fashion souls”.
Totally agree with that.
Yes, the identity of the genre is to find and equip more powerful loot. What does that have to do with wanting that loot to look the way I prefer while keeping that aspect of the genre? This isn’t an unique feature, many games use this. The only way I’d be okay with no transmog is if you could completely customize the affixes and stats of a piece of equipment to make it the “perfect piece” you want for your build.
Why are you playing games of this genre anyways?
I understand its about the perfect look?I know you want your complete fulfilled fantasy and skip the efford to earn?
Tom you’re putting words in my mouth. No one said anything about not wanting to earn loot. People are asking to use the looks they’ve already earned on other items they earn. Why would you even suggest something like this except to try and say players like myself don’t want to work for anything?
transmog is like cheating.
We just fundamentally disagree on this.
Not if those systems as bad, since it will make a players experience worse due to repeated interactions with a bad system.
But those systems are good right now. They have problems but their core is solid.
No, because they would boil down to the same gear for the same role.
Why the hell would it boil down to the same gear? There is so many different gear in every category. It absolutely would not boil down to same gear because it is random chance to get good of the same one. Transmog on the other hand everyone can just look same without any effort.
This is true, but I don’t see the issue.
The issue is that transmog disincentivizes creating new builds for the reason of wanting to look different.
It enables it, I can wear what I want to match my class fantasy.
It absolutely does not enable it because I can look like whatever I like while wearing something completely different. So I don’t wear knight gear but I look like a knight how is that a class fantasy? Just looking the part is enough to have it? I don’t think so.
People will default to the best armor.
People can not default to the best armor because every “class” needs different stats. And on top of that gear stats are random so you can not have “best armor” so easily.
If I invest enough into equip load I can play as one.
I don’t care if you can play as one. Never said I cared if you could play as a lightweight with heavy armor. It is about looks.
No, because people would wear the armor they would like the most. People have different tastes. Thus rewarding the developers for making earlier tier gear, since not everyone is wearing the final tier set.
People do not have so many different tastes when it comes to how armor looks. That’s why I said 80%(maybe 70 maybe 60 doesn’t matter it will be majority of the armor because people like certain looks more) because most of it would never be seen in the game only the “coolest” ones would be chosen.
Because the hello kitty hoodie could give me better stats. Look at WoW as an example. Crafting/enchanting in this game need some QoL.
Like I said if there is no transmog and you wanted to look like a knight you would go and farm that helmet and try to get good stats on it. That is interacting with the games’ systems which is better than just clicking one button and looking like what you want.
You really should save yourself the trouble. The person you’re responding too has no interest in engaging in good faith with your points. There isn’t any good reason to waste your time or energy on someone like that. Them literally repeating talking points that have been addressed over and over and over again should tell you everything you need to know.
I still like your highly customizable equipment idea. Imagine how cool it would be to put together the perfect set and then have mannequins in your home that you deck out with said set (and many others, ideally.) It would be addicting–I’d have an entire “war room” in that world.
I hope you guys ain’t done because I just got myself some more popcorn.
#transpog
I’m surprised it’s still going on.
Over armor sounds weird but if you’ve ever played Monster Hunter you know what I’m talking about
If you have an armor that has really good affixes but you don’t like the look, maybe you should be able to sacrifice one of your other armors and make it so you can put it on top of your current armor to keep both your affixes and your desired look.
