The one big almighty Transmog topic

I would love to hear from those who are opposed to transmog a bit more about how having it as an option would impact their enjoyment of the game. I’m seeing the sentiment that being forced to use the cosmetic look of the item is part of the role-playing aspect, and I understand that people would want to play that way, but I’m still confused how transmog actually hurts those who don’t want to use it.

Inherently, transmog is an optional feature. If you don’t want to use it, there would be nothing in place forcing you to do so. However, if transmog is not in the game, then players who would enjoy it simply don’t have the option. If it is in the game, then players who enjoy it can use it and players who don’t like it can easily ignore it.

So, from my perspective, adding transmog has no downsides and only benefits, but maybe there’s a point I’m missing. In a competitive multiplayer game I would understand because the gear someone wears can communicate information about their stats, playstyle, loadout, etc. that could be important for the dynamic of the game. But in a game like Wicked, I feel transmog is, at worst, a harmless addition and, at best, a feature a lot of players would enjoy and one that can be easily ignored by those who don’t like it.

With all my respects, the armors in this game are the ugliest I’ve seen ever in a videogame. It’s like they put all the effort in the enviroment and a few weapons and the armor was made by a beginner or someone that never played a videogame. It’s not about to look sick at level 5, but at least don’t seem like a homeless in a Halloween party.

You could potentially say that about my wife, but she’s the prettiest woman in my life in my books.

I dont think we need transmog in this game to be honest. As you can just enchant your favourite stuff to your liking. Provided we are able to craft most basic sets.

I agree in todays age of gaming a transmog system is a must. Its always nice when one has in depth customization like color shaders etc. but, couldnt agree with you more

To quote Thomas Mahler:
“This game is designed with multiplayer in mind”

Which means that other players in that realm dont know what you are wearing. It confusing.
For me the problem would be solved if there were a richer variety of equipment variations with the option to dye, but thats by the devs.
If everybody transmogs there weapon to the cooles looking unique item in the game would be very sad.
I like customization but it must fit in the reality of the game world.

I said it in other post, basically it only matters in multiplayers. And multiplayers is on the roadmap.

For me personally. Adding feature means more resources. That’s opportunity cost. It needs time and people to create and maintain that could be doing other more important things, it demotivates devs to create “ugly” gear because people would just paint over it.

If it exist, especially in multiplayers, then the concern above matters (taking item identity out, misleading, etc). One solution could be the transmog only visible to the wearer. For example A did transmog while B didn’t. Then in a PvP, A sees themself with whatever transformation they did, while B sees A as if they didn’t transmog. Vice versa if B did transmog.

Ugly or pretty is highly subjective btw. I found pillary ugly but I know someone else that adores it.

I dont care how its implimented. I just really want a transmog option! I want the option to be able to choose how I want to look.

I’d rather have just dyes.

You cant do that as armor matters and your weight value matters. Transmog would allow you to look how you want too look without being tied to your armor or weight values. It’s not fair to have someone who likes the look of heavy armor, but prefers lighter, faster play, have to invest into carry weight just so they can wear what they want.

I also would like a dye option. But, I tend to find that its harder for devs to impliment if it wasn’t something they had planned at the beginning. I would still prefer a transmog option over dyes though, if I had to choose.

No way we can transmog plate to look like cloth or vice versa. That is completely bonkers in my humble opinion.

We’ll have to see what devs have to say about this.

There are so many beautiful armor sets on this game, we need a transmog for them. Make it work like it is on diablo 4, where you access throught a wardrobe and it lists every armor that you already collected, you just pick the one you want and equip it, it’s perfect.
Also if possible, allow us to change the color of the armors

No transmog please. Changing the colour I can get behind with!

I can understand it seeming bonkers to transmog heavy gear to look like light and viseversa. In a sensical sense, it makes no sense. But, transmog tends to be a type of magic which I think could add to the lore of it making sense, and it really doesnt affect much here unless they impliment pvp where it may throw people off from an initial view standpoint. All it does is add player options to how they wish to look and it would be optional to use or not if its not your thing.

I also agree that heavy armor is heaviliy overtuned in comparison to light armor benifits. But, I dont see how that should be related and used as a trade off for transmog just because its overtuned.

The way I see it. It’s all optional. I understand not liking it. But, I dont see why it should not be added just because some players dont agree with it. It would be a harmless addition to the game which would just give players a more open option to player visuals.

We have to agree to disagree. I don’t want any readability issues to my game if it’s going to have multiplayer.

Devs have said choices need to have weight. If you choose to spec yourself as a mage without equipment load, you made the choice to lock yourself out of wearing heavy armour.

I’m not trying to come off as rude here, but I don’t think it’s fair to restrict a fun option for many players just because you lack the self control to stop yourself from using it.

I don’t think it’s even remotely the same as a difficulty option. Difficulty affects gameplay. Transmog affects how you appear without changing any gameplay elements. There is no good argument for why this shouldn’t exist beyond “PvP”, and even then just have transmog disabled for your opponents in that match as a feature and there’s no issues.

For people like me, transmog systems give me many, MANY more hours in a game. It would be a great feature loved by many.

Suppose we’ll have to see what the developers have in mind for this.

But you telling him there is no good arguments against it doesn’t prove anything.

Only facts cant be argued about, opinions can and should be argued no matter how stupid or brilliant the arguments are.

And I for one don’t want some frivolous transmog in this game. Let it be gritty, grounded and real. Transmog will make it superficial.

WYSIWYG - oldschool

If that happens … i would be speechless because its so out of what this game wants to be

Oh man … that could be really funny for all others :- :joy:

I don’t know how you can say this when RPGs are all about constantly equipping new, better loot. You can’t appear the way you want without gimping your build, and that’s not a fun dichotomy. If you play games with transmog, you should understand that.
