The one big almighty Transmog topic

Yes I do lack self control so do most people for these scenarios. That’s one of the reasons why Dark Souls does not have an easy mode. But I don’t expect you to understand.

I don’t find your stance baffling because I am a decent person that can think outside of my wants and needs. But you can not that’s why I don’t expect you to understand.

Good idea! Yeah that would be a good way to integrate it.

Hey @jumps004 and I were just trying to understand where you were coming from. I understand what you’re saying logically. You don’t want the option because you don’t want to be tempted. I would agree with @jumps004 that this sounds like you could simply exercise a bit of self control and not use transmog if it were present, but I hear you. You’d rather not have the option.

What I don’t understand is the fact that, when you take this stance, it sounds like you’re not thinking about other people. If you get what you want, that would prevent others from getting what they want. If transmog is in the game, every player can individually choose to use it or not. If it’s not in the game, like you want, that’s great for you because you won’t be tempted by it, but then all the players who do want transmog wouldn’t have the option. Adding a transmog option benefits far more people than it hurts. Personally, I would argue it doesn’t hurt anyone since it’s an option.

Overall, I would say it’s better to give people options than not. I don’t think you’re right that most people lack self control with these sorts of things. Most people just do what they want/enjoy =)

Do I have to cater to masses when I want something from a video game? I don’t think I do. It’s not life or death man it’s just a video game. I want one thing you want another thing. I am letting the devs know there are players like me so that they don’t only see your perspective.

Also I guarantee you that if for example Dark Souls had an easy mode most people would play that and we would not have a souls-like subgenre today.

I don’t think we’ll agree on this. Probably best if we just drop it. You certainly have the right to voice your opinion. I wasn’t saying you shouldn’t be able to.

I just want the option to visually hide my helmet

Agreed. There’s nothing more frustrating than playing a game with the best build that you feel looks ugly. There’s usually some outfit you like best, so you should be able to cosmetically look the way you want to. It has no functional impact on gameplay, so not having a cosmetic alteration system is either developer laziness or adamant preference.

Transmog would be great. In ffxiv the transmog was the real end game. Hopefully it gets implemented here. Also hope for some gear that doesnt look like crap when we get an update. Theres very few pieces currently that dont look bad.

I think we shouldn’t have skins in this game. Or at least it should be for in-game currency, not real money.

Grimoire system to collect all armor appearances. So on a specific NPC, you could open this grimoire and choose the transmorg

Hi,

I love the art style of this game.
Please implement transmog system if possible.

Also, I hope more armors in the future have cloaks/capes, also big shoulders/pauldrons.

This game has its own visual style, albeit, cartoonish, in which opens up for more over-the-board armor design. Not talking about flash, but big shoulderpads etc..

Thanks and keep up the excellent work! I have never ever been so encouraged in a game before in which I participate in Discord, Steam Forum, Twitter with Thomas and now Wicked own forum!

Yes! I got a floppy duelist hat made (I am not advanced because I keep restarting) recently, and love how the giant red feather blows around in the “wind”.

The transmog discussion is very similar to the respec discussion.
Transmog kills the identity of an item and Respec kills the identity of a leveled character.
Finally its all about not accepting the identity of the game. Changing everything at any time … why?

I dislike transmog because i want to accept the item and its identity or i dont wear it, which would also be an option.
Atm my character wears no helmet and i am fighting with no helmet because i dont like the ones i have found so far. Its ok for me.

Somebody in this thread said “its ok to look like a fool in the beginning”. Totally agree on this.

One solution i would accept would be to craft a “new” item based on a blueprint(which is based on an existing looking item) with new stats, not transmogging an existing item just for the look.

Totally agree with this sentiment.

My suggestion is to make every item have “primary color” that could be swapped with other color.

For example, the Sacrament Guard armor is generally green. I have the helmet with great buffs, but I don’t want to wear the armor. I want to wear other red mesh armor (that I cant remember the name) because it has better buffs.

But the red and green don’t match. It looks ugly. One solution is to repaint the primary color of the helmet (green) to become red. You could also repaint the armor to green to make it matches the green helmet. It can be done in the tailor or armory or some other new vendor.

That way, it doesn’t really mess with the identity of the items, everything still looks appropriate, but players have a lot more freedom to mix and match their items.

Yeah, add dyes but no transmog.

Colorization is a good compromise i guess.
With a cost or for free?

I would pay for that cause its a vendor service
Or bring the right ingredients

I see black knights all over the place

Maybe you could buy some. Or craft them by yourself. And even buy them from other players.

With cost for immersion lol. Probably around 10 coppers for basic RGBCMY color, 1 silver for gold/silver/metallic/obsidian color.

Cost could be higher though. We need more money sinks in the game! So money becomes a valuable resource too.

I am not a fan of Diablo 3 - style transmog. My most played game ever is Diablo2 and one of the things I loved about D2 is that you can always kinda tell what gear people are using and it is rewarding that not everyone can look like you, unless they has the same items or spend the same attribute points required to wear that gear.

Transmog makes you look too “perfect” and takes away from the role-play theme of the game. You shouldn’t look like a heavy plate armor dude, with max movement speed gear.

Unique items having “unique” item art is part of what makes that item special. Transmog would fully ruin that.

I like the idea of gear color dyes,
So you can apply you own touch and stand out a bit. This is a great idea.
