70 percent. I think that 70 percent of the items I get are already enchanted. This is bonkers. I cannot stress enough how annoying this is. I spend most of the game, hardcore runs and regular build alike, in the same armor because I don’t get enough unenchanted items. If I enchant an item and I get a worthless blue, sure, Ok. That’s on me. But when most of my loot comes pre useless for the builds I want and Embers can’t be farmed, then we have a problem.
Please make a point of giving us more unenchanted loot. Make the ratio something like 50-30 percent of the items that are pre enchanted. I’m just spit balling here as I don’t know the actual number! I would like to find an armor set I could completely deck out in masterworks but can’t because I never seem to get enough armor from that set that isn’t already blue; other than the ones I have to create by crafting.
To be clear, I don’t find a problem with the cursed item drop rate. That seems fine.
Also. I think the reason that the blues are so worthless is because for the most part they only reflect what you could already do in a masterwork. The cursed items have unique enchantments, so they offer worth. Blues are not worth anything except as a placeholder.
Now after the Breach update and equalized enchantment values I find regular magic gear stronger than cursed. Not in all cases; weapons and gloves are better cursed. Howerver pants, head and armor has really strong competition.
There are some affixes that can only appear on blue items too. Like Armor %, Resistances, Focus Cost Reduced after Rune Attack, Explosion on Kill, etc.
So blue items are definitely not useless.

You said you cant get resistainces? You can add an appropriate gem to get between 10 and 20 peecent resistaince for any item. Each gem that gives infusion damage for weapons gives resistaince for armor.
Do I really need to spell out context for everything I say? We are referring to enchantments of Plagued vs. Magic my dude…

Context is everything. If your statment has hidden meaning based on context you might not share then dont blame me for that.
Blue enchantments do not give enough bonouses to be worth the effort of wasting embers on them. I can now slot gems into masterworks and take them out again with impunity to get higher values. I can even aquire an exalted status if i feel patient. Blue enchantments are not powerful enough to change combat in the end game.
As someone who only plays hardcore and doesnt die regularly i think ill trust my intuiton on the matter over your snide remarks of hidden context.
Also. I don’t value any of those affixes you mentioned. So no wonder we don’t see eye to eye. I don’t rely on explosions on death when I can just as easily do crowd control using a lightning buildup weapon. Or the rune attack reducing focus, which is not worth its weight as an enchantment compared to raw damage numbers.
Further, your point of context regarding Plagued vs Magic doesn’t compute. I’m talking about the value of enchantments as a whole. I find no issue with plagued items, so I did not include them in my appraisal of distaste. My issue here is the blues and the need for items to come without enchantments since this would allow us to enchant and maybe get a plagued item or just do a plain old masterwork. At least it’s partially in my control that way.
Bruh…
If those two words do not add context that stipulates enchantments are being referred to and is the frame being discussed… your reading comprehension leaves a lot to be desired.
Gems do not appear on items unless put there, and can be placed on White, Blue, or Purple items. There is zero reason to compare something that applies to all options.
Except that now i can take items off and on my unenchanted items once ive slotted it to become a masterwork. There is reason now to compare masterworks and blues. Blues exclusive enchantments are subpar. And since i can take and give whenever i want to a masterwork item blues are irrelevant.
You seem to be under the impression that the affixes that can appear on blue items are of worth to me. They are not. When you play hardcore long-term you begin to understand which enchantments are worth anything in keeping you alive in a crowded environment.
The entire reason for this post was to voice disgust for the lack of imagination with any of the blue items affixes and their inherent worth against a masterwork or a cursed item. Items in this game have no inherent value without enchantments. Plate armor is actually worthless without them and is even subpar to a mesh or leather armor at times because of how much weight skill is required to roll decently.
You’re attempt to make blue items appealing to me or even to make me aware of something I already know, are unhelpful in the slightest because you seem perfectly content with items I view as garbage.
The entire problem with the loot system as it stands is that it doesn’t make one look for sets of armor for bonuses but rather for specific enchantments that will help you deal the most damage. This is why the masterworks have some value compared to the blues. Because of the ember requirements to make blues worth a build. It’s more valuable to just slot and unslot gems into new armor sets. Or, as I do most of the time, just hoard cursed items and create sets from that hoping to find a set that looks decent and not a collection of different levels and set pieces that make me look like a circus clown.
Magical gear has a lot of enchantments that help specifically with survivabiliry: 20% more armor, 15% max HP, 10% more movementspeed, extra poise. Since the values are equalized now, you can even roll the “10% less damage taken based on durability” on blue items instead of previously 6%.
There are also some great offensive blue enchantments, like bonus to Focus on shield and bows can only be found on magical items. “25% Focus cost decreased on full Focus” was the reason to run magical headgear, now there is not even a competition.
I think its a gross mischaracterization to call Magical gear worthless.
70% of YOUR drops have been already enchanted, of which you aren’t even sure. If you’re going to state a statistical figure and base your entire argument on it, make sure to do the math first and then realize your experience isn’t a universal constant.
These are my drops after 3 or 4 Crucible runs, except for the Barricades.
10 items (not counting the rings and Barricades).
30% Plagued
30% Magical
40% Plain
