Hi, I have played wicked for near 150 hours and have some feedback I would like to share that could enhance the story immersion:
- Finding Gordon the cook for the first time - a questionable path that led to his stranded position
Problem: When you find Gordon, waiting up on the bridge, he says the boards have rotted behind him and the ladder is too high up to reach.
However in our arrival at the Shallows right after the prologue, the boards have already rotted and the gap is already present. It would need us to have a small suspension of belief in his narrative to accept that somehow some planks reappeared after we the Cerim left the shallows that Gordon crossed, which collapsed after him, leaving him stranded.
Gap in question:
Solution:
Have some planks existing at the gap when we first arrive at the Shallows after the prologue - so that Gordonâs narrative on how he managed to cross the gap is more believable
- Captain Randolph - who is he? a Captain of the guards or a side quest master?
Problem: Captain Randolph as the captain of Sacramentâs guards seems to be involved heavily in the duties of clearing threats that exists outside Sacramentâs walls.
Whilst this is fine, and I understand the game needing to give us a system for bounties and challenges, he becomes less of a character and more of a tool for us to collect bounties/do challenges. I think I only remembered one reaction of his to an in-game narrative which is when the Mountain Gate felled.
For a captain who is hardly present (or even seem to be aware) in the defending of Sacrament against the plot of the Risen to attack Sacrament via the Sewers, or was absent in the crowd of guards at the Rookery with Ellsworth when the Mountain Gate felled, I find it hard to believe he serves a narrative purpose. This necessitates us to have a suspension of belief that his role as a captain is somehow more important than the ordinary guards who are risking their lives against the Risen/Pestilence, and that he is still doing crucial/vital things for the security of Sacrament behind-the-scenes.
Solution:
Remove his role as a challenges/bounties quest master to free him up to be a character in the narrative as well - He can still be the one to initiate/introduce challenges/bounties to us, at the place he is at right now - but instead of himself always being positioned there afterwards, perhaps he is only there at the start to introduce a booth or a notice board that displays the dayâs bounties/challenges. An ordinary guard can then be positioned there as a âclerkâ for us to exchange our cleared bounties/challenges for rewards.
I believe Randolph should have been present when we killed Darak in the sewers (with Rattigan and Winnick) and at the Rookery with Ellsworth. He should be responding to any completion of our story chapters just like the other marketplace vendors.
- Rattigan, a special prisoner?
Problem: I understand that there is definitely a narrative arc designed for Rattigan - but when he is whisked away to the Mountain Gate under Celineâs orders, it seems surprising that the other Risen prisoners are left behind, still in Sacrament. With the urgency that Celine is demanding for the gate to be broken into, shouldnât all the prisoners be required to labour for the Inquisition?
Solution:
Iâm not sure if there are planned narratives for these small characters, so my solution to have them join Rattigan at the Mountain Gate may not be the best if Moon Studios have other plans for them (since it seems like most of the prisoners get wiped out by the Winged Brood).
Thanks for listening to my feedback!
