Hello dear Devs,
I bought the game back when The Breach was first released and completed most of the content within a few weeks (including Crucible, although I couldn’t beat the final boss at that time).
I already shared my feedback back then. One of my main issues was the stat system, I had misskilled my character and had a very hard time to reach Crucible level 5 just to respec.
With the recent patch, I decided to give the game another try. This time, I noticed something interesting: I reached level 10 and hadn’t spent a single stat point yet. The reason was simple, I didn’t know which direction to go, because I hadn’t found the weapon that I wanted to build my character around. I wanted to play as a sorcerer, but my strongest weapon was a sword, and I even found a better greatsword that outperformed any sorcerer staff I had found so far. So, I didn’t invest in Intelligence, not knowing if or when a good staff would drop.
This made me realize that your idea of de-emphasizing traditional stat investments (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith) is actually a great approach. It keeps new players from feeling like they’ve “broken” their build just because they haven’t found the right weapon yet. Instead of locking progression behind stats, it feels better to simply level up the weapon type you want to use — if you want to play a sorcerer, upgrade your staff; if you want to be an assassin, upgrade your daggers. This gives players more freedom to experiment and keeps them engaged by encouraging them to upgrade and try out different weapon types.
If you want to keep stats for things like health, equip load, or focus — that’s fine, but even these might eventually feel outdated compared to a system that’s purely gear-focused.
Keep up the great work! I’m really looking forward to the multiplayer update.
All the best!
