The upcoming Class system is a GOOD idea

I really want this thread to clear things up because I don’t understand why people think the class system is a bad idea.

Apparently, wanting to allocate a few stat points with each level up is more important than having passives that unlock based on your preferred weapon.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I understand:

Nothing will change; we’ll still be able to build the way we always have. We’ll still be able to use our enchantments as we want, and we’ll still be able to use our runes as we wish.
The only change is that we won’t be limited by hybrid weapons and we’ll be able to test everything without having to respec.

Non-offensive stats (health, stamina, focus) will increase with our main level. The remaining bonuses will be based on our class level.

Why is this a bad idea?

Basically, you want to be able to have a mage with heavy armor? You want to play a two-handed weapon with light armor? It’s possible; you’ll just have to adapt the gameplay to the passive abilities you unlock by playing the way you like.

Nothing changes. Before, you had to level up to allocate stat points to be able to play the way you liked. Now it’s the same, it’s just that instead of stat points, you’ll have class levels to get the passive abilities that will make your preferred gameplay more comfortable. The only difference is that it will be better structured this way than it is now.

So why all the fear?

I get the impression that it’s about having everything instantly and easily, as if gaming has to conform to this TikTok generation. It’s normal to have to play to get what you like. And if a trait you’re interested in requires you to level up a class you don’t like, well, that’s your problem. You want broken builds? Work for them. Some people talk as if it’s unbearable to spend more time creating a magical death knight build that tanks while being as fast as a hare. Well, no, it’s actually logical.

Before I’m labeled a blind fanboy, no, this game isn’t perfect:

  • The camera is problematic, especially on bosses in co-op.
  • The optimization leaves much to be desired, especially the frame rate drops in certain areas.
  • The vertical level design combined with the isometric view can make pathfinding a bit tricky.
  • Balancing builds is very complicated due to their enormous diversity, and they should make sure this game doesn’t become a meta that everyone follows without appreciating that diversity.

But despite all that, this game is a gem, and I’m sure this studio knows what they’re doing when it comes to leveling and how to make its gameplay enjoyable.

No one was there to tell them how to build the art direction because you know they’re experts in that area.
No one can accuse them of not understanding what gamers want when they constantly compare themselves to their competitors.
And no one can accuse them of not listening to their community; without it, this forum wouldn’t exist. So why not trust them?

It’s impossible to please everyone; otherwise, this game would be an unplayable mess where some ideas would contradict others.
At some point, you have to trust first and complain later.

They know what they’re doing, and they’ll be able to handle the disappointment of those who don’t like their game. That’s just how it is. I get the feeling you were given a lollipop too quickly and now you’re complaining about having to take the time to unwrap a bigger one. (Sorry if my English is bad, it’s a translation)

The other topic in questions: The upcoming Class system is a bad idea

I appreciate the attempt to shine a brighter perspective on those pain points from the other topic Remsnot. Keep in mind though I will merge this with that one as soon the subject of discussion overlaps to much for clarity sakes  .
