- I just got past talking with Ellsworth and Winnick in Lowland Meadows (I believe from Lumber Mill whisper), proceeded a bit further then my game seemed to become non-responsive - see pictures below
- I ALT-F4 and started the game again
- Then tried loading my character (Sasazuka) into the same realm (First), the loading bar on the bottom filled up but it just stayed on the loading screen. I thought it was stuck so I ALT-F4 again
- I tried loading the same character into the same realm again but the same thing happened again
- Again ALT-F4 but this time I loaded another character (SasazukaCoop) into a different realm (Repair) and that loaded successfully
- I exited the game, verified game files successfully, and tried loading again but it was still “stuck” (in game cursor works and FPS goes into 1000s,)
Based on Silas’s recommendation, I let it “load” and it did eventually loaded (almost 4min) but character is unresponsive (cannot move, attack, dodge, eat, cast runes, etc) but I could go into the menu and move around there (tried both keyboard/mouse and controller). Per recommendation I tried loading non-problematic characters and non-problematic realms and they work just fine but the problematic character still had the same problem. So it’s the combination of one specific character (Sasazuka) and realm (First) that seems to have this issue (EDIT: seems to be the realm as other character have gotten stuck as well once reaching that zone). The game had been working mostly without issue up to this point. Continue from last whisper did move me to the last whisper but character is still unresponsive. Entered the realm with another character (SasazukaCoop) also caused that character to be unresponsive in Lowland Meadows starting whisper.

Here’s where I was originally stuck, I remember mining this then walking on top of the empty ore spot, and the character then was unable to move so I ALT-F4.
Also want to add that “Quit to Main Menu” is also slow once a character goes into this bad state.

Yes, I know my graphics card drivers are outdated but I have personally verified this is the most stable and most performant driver. This game and other games have not had any serious problems.

Just wanted to confirm that after Hotfix 5, issue still persists.
EDIT: Confirm Hotfix 6 still has the issue for me.
Reached the area where my character was stuck on a different realm so I have updated first post with exact location.
Hi, I just started to have the same issue - slow loading screen and once in, my character is not responding to any keyboard nor controller input. And randomly, it starts to move randomly on its own.
Wondering if you have already gotten a fix for this?
Tried to verify game files and reinstall - not working for me.

This is such a strange and sadly under reported issue, best I can do for you is ask you for your files (see instructions here: How to Properly Report Bugs! ) and forward those towards Moon

Just came back and compiled all the necessary files (https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-eSjDDbH6AZVqUuZmwLMgE-hjWgDDj55?usp=drive_link) to substantiate the bug I am currently facing.
Still having the same issue after 1 week of not logging into the game. Also want to add that I am actually spamming buttons on my controller and keyboard during the recording of the bug in the attached video, but as you will see, nothing happens and then random action.

I just wanna add that I have tested by creating another character, accessing the same realm and heading to the same spot where my previous character is bugged. And the result - it happened again, now my new character is stuck at the same spot at Black Trench too.
I have added a new video clip <No Rest for the Wicked 2026.04.06 - 22.16.25.01> in the same gdrive folder, hopefully it helps to narrow down on the possible cause of this bug. At the bottom left of the video, you will see that I am actually spamming all buttons on my controller and KBM but nothing happens.

Your problem started happening after entering a certain location (inside Black Trench)?

This problem actually started when I was exploring around inside the Black Trench (using my first char). It didn’t actually begin at this whisper that you are seeing in the videos as I was able to explore Black Trench at first. Unfortunately I can’t show you the exact spot it started because both my character can’t travel to that spot now.
As for my 2nd char, it gets stuck the moment I tried to enter Black Trench again. At the whisper shown in the video. It’s like the entire Black Trench area is bugged out for me, regardless of char used.

Are you stuck now or have you completed the Black Trench quest line (of Rats and Raiders)?

Unfortunately, I am still stuck now and have yet to progress further with the quest since none of my characters are able to move once they get into Black Trench.
Would probably wait till this get fix first before even continuing with the game, cause I prefer not to get the same issue once I get further into the main story.
