It does not sound like you’ve played many RPGs or games with survival mechanics. Wicked may not be the game for you. I hope the devs do not change the foundation of what Wicked is just to appease players who don’t enjoy certain genres. I really enjoy the gathering aspect currently in place. There could be minor refinements but if you need wood for an upgrade, and that wood comes from a tree, and there are trees to chop down that require tools, then yes - a tree should take some swings to fell. Otherwise what’s the point and just make all resources available at a vendor for purchase. Again, that is not this game.
100% behind this. I feel the same way.
Actually, I see it very differently. There are many reasons why upgrades take minutes or hours; pacing. Pacing the gameplay is satisfactory (to some). We aren’t all the same, and some people want things instantly, but I see why it’s here: pacing, not stalling.
Oh, for sure, but as I upgraded enchanting shop and smithy it didn’t changed much, only game an access to better gathering tools. And timing it self doesn’t provide any pacing, since what it’s value if I simple go work for 8h and come back, and the thing is built? I would’ve spen this 4h outside the game any way
Gathering materials, thats what provides pacing, I spent well over a 2h just chopping and digging. That’s okay, though there could be some improvements to that too. So I spent my time collecting resources, why it should take that long, I wouldn’t mind 30 mins, but over 1h feels bad.
Just yesterday I upgraded general goods, just before sleep, and I could access second tier shop, had to wait, I just closed the game, same was with smithy, 4h, all dailies are done, nothing to do in game right now, again simply closed the game and went to do other things.
So for me, this timing mechanic doesn’t add any value to the game, nor does it better.
What you thoughts on skip timer by not playing the game? @Mohander
I’m not opposed to pacing gameplay, it’s just needs to be done by other means
One thing is certain: the building system doesn’t lend itself to speedruns.
Outside of that, I iterate that spending the time on chopping wood etc is already a big time sink (but immersive) but waiting for the builder to do his work is just a time sink (NOT immersive)
I mean, he’s just standing in town, who is doing this work? Can I go see them do the work? Can I watch them build the elevator for a few hours?
It’s just bad QoL. I’ve made the investment, just give me the output
so i go chopping 40+ trees, mining 40+ materials, pray to the gods to find 30+ clay from a dig, which was bugged btw, and now you are telling me i have to wait 4 hours? that is stalling at this point, and it doesn’t add ANYTHING to the game to the point is just a waste of time for no valid reason.
No issue for me whatsoever, I leave for more adventures. Come back, done.
