It’s probably late at this state of development to even be considered since all the armors have already been fit in, but I just have to voice the high dissatisfaction with the male player character option and hope for revisiting the proportions.
I feel that as it currently stands, and probably what you’ll observe with game telemetry, the vast majority of players will opt for the female character model option simply because the male character is a cartoonish, goofy looking mutant that lacks the aspirational qualities most people seek in their player characters.
The problem with the male character model is as follows:
1- Incredibly tiny and narrow, bulbous head relative to the other proportions of the body. Because the character is so wide chested, but with narrow, rounded shoulders, and incredibly long Popeye forearms, the head is cartoonishly small.
2- Major chicken leg syndrome. The character is very torso heavy but with anemic shoulders, a small head, small biceps, and paper straw legs. Unlike the female character, which has reasonably attractive/aspirational proportions, the male character looks like a rejected experiment.
3-The really thin, stick-like legs and cartoonishly long and bulky forearms that are thicker than the biceps and deltoids are exacerbated in the armor, especially with plate. A plate chest armor looks huge and bulky, and then you see the pants and it’s a very clashing discord of power fantasy, you look like some child wearing their parent’s attire that hardly fits them.
4- The female character looks like a 25-30 year old daughter in her prime while the male character looks like her aging trailer park alcoholic dad in his 40-50s or some abused prisoner of war.
This is primarily due to like 85-90% of the male faces being heavily wrinkled/worn and torn/blemished, while the female character has a wealth of youthful and healthy looking options.
The other big problem are the hairstyle options for the men. There are like 2-3 hairstyles at best that you’d link to a 20-30 year old male in his prime. The crushing majority of male hairstyles are hobo, visually unappealing hairstyles that are either country bumpkin, balding, bowl cut, or otherwise really unimpressive “I cut my own hair without a mirror”.
There are barely any options, either short or long hairstyle, that convey youth, power, virility.
There are no long manes with chieftain braids, either viking or celtic, or even east asian swordmaster hairstyles. The are like 2 decent short stylized cuts, but no real stylized warrior short hairstyles with either braids, or a fauxhawk or shades.
The male characters are deeply unappealing as a power fantasy, and while some people will argue that this does not matter in an isometric game, I disagree. How your character looks and the power fantasy and aesthetics progression they convey matters in terms of attachment to your character.
At the very least, please consider shortening the arms a bit and bringing more proportion to the forearms while thickening the legs, biceps and shoulders, and widening the head a bit.
The cartoonish Popeye look to the male player characters is sadly really repellent in an otherwise gorgeous game.
It’s a huge clash when you get something as great looking and imposing as Madrigal Seline or Odessa, and then the available male characters are all almost uniformly hideous trolls.
