Leather Bags as Inventory Expansion System

Add purchasable/craftable Leather Bags with which we can upgrade our inventory as opposed to the Ichor system.

  • Let Bags progress similar to other tools, like a Pickaxe. But, instead of going from bronze to iron to silver, it uses different types of leather.

  • Upgrades add additional inventory slots and stacks. Example, T1 bag gives +4 slots and has a 20 stack limit. T2 bag gives +8 slots and has a 25 stack limit.

  • We already have leather as a resource.

  • There is a tailor NPC duo which already offer crafting, they could also sell them like how other vendors sell tools.

  • It makes sense, bags hold stuff.

  • Drinking the ichor of a zombie resulting into additional inventory space doesn’t make sense.

Reserve the Ichor system for something cool with the talent tree if, hopefully when, you guys decide to go forward with that.

I like the idea although I believe it could cause some balancing issues. I feel like the inventory should serve a tactical nature, making sure the player is cautious with what loot they pick-up whilst also ensuring that it isn’t too punishing.

my concern I have with the idea is:

Would it have a cap on how many times the player can upgrade their inventory or would it be endlessly?

The way I think it could work is that it could potentially be tied to the players level? Then there is some sense of progression and reward behind expanding the players inventory.

I would have it work similar to how you upgrade a pickaxe from bronze to iron to silver.

The same would be true for bags.

I’ll rephrase my OP for more clarity on that.

I think it’s a great idea.
However, it should not be complicated.
Inventory slots are always in short supply and should be completed at the time of purchase, not as an upgrade.
Add the advantages and disadvantages of increasing or decreasing the number of slots through customization. If you do upgrade, it should be enough to change the look and feel at will.
It should be one of the more immersive elements of exploration.

I think its a good idea and why not add a packrat feat to carry more stuff as well.
