After floating around various player groups on Twitch and Discord i have noticed a common theme around the RNG nature of the loot system. Many players (myself included) find it to not be very exciting, as any chest and any enemy drop can basically drop the same random stuff. This in turn makes searching for chests in general less exciting.
Here’s my idea on how to counteract this feeling.
Attunement NPC
This NPC allows the player to select specific pieces of gear and up to 2 enchantments per piece of gear.
Each attunement level increases the drop rate for said gear and the attuned enchantments.
The player will be able to enhance the power of the attunement by sacrificing gear with the desired enchantments at the vendor.
Attuned Chests
These chests will always contain at least one piece of gear which the player selected at the Attunement NPC . The attuned enchantments are guaranteed and instead their power level is boosted by the attunement level.
Attuned chests are visually distinct and can only spawn in hidden away / hard to reach spots.
