Game is freezing on Moon Studios startup logo animation, and closes

the game closes after passing the Moon Studios logo, and after a loading icon appears and a number appears in the corner of the screen.
After the Moon Studios logo appears, a completely black screen appears and an icon with a game symbol appears indicating that something is loading, but it freezes and after a few seconds it closes.

Exactly on that screen

Hey @Erik_Silva_II

Hello, I have been a user of No Rest for the Wicked since almost the moment it came out. I think it is an incredible game and I would like to continue playing it. I stopped playing it a while ago due to content issues. When I started playing, I noticed that it took a long time to start and many times it didn’t start on the first try, not to say that 90% of the time it didn’t start on the first try. However, when I started it again it worked. Well, I haven’t played it for a few months, and now the game doesn’t start. The MOONSTUDIOS logo appears, but when the red loading icon appears on the left, 2-4 seconds pass and it automatically exits. I don’t know why it is but I can’t get in. I have tried to verify the files and everything is correct, I have tried to remove any antivirus, I have put it in firewall exclusions, I have removed many programs from the task manager, I have run it in administrator. I have tried to restart the computer and run it again. I really don’t understand why it won’t run. Apart from the problem I had before with the start-ups, the game worked relatively well and I was happy. I’ve played 73 hours and I wouldn’t like to ask for a refund. It’s a game that I would like to see succeed because it’s a very good game, both artistically and gameplay-wise. I ask you to attend to my problem urgently and don’t wait too long because I’m a little annoyed with the start-up of this one.
I’m going to leave some information about my PC and the game.
If anyone wants to help me or needs more information from me to solve the problem, please let me know in this post.

Can you please share your logfiles and crash report as stated here: How to Properly Report Bugs!

also, i will merge this with the other threads reporting the same issue

Dear developers, after the last update, the game crashes before entering the menu, after loading.
The same problem occurred after the last global update Crucible.
As you explained last time, the problem was in the processors’ support for something there. Maybe it’s the same this time?

Him we apologize that this is happening,.

May I ask for a few things.

  • you dxdiag or specs
  • Your save file
  • Is you drivers up to date.

Is it crashing immediately after opening or when you load into a realm?

i will move this to the other thread reporting the same issue.

@Deni_Ivanov @ramon_peperino @Erik_Silva_II

This is gonna sound strange but go into Nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > and set Vsync to Fast. start the game. see if u get in.

This exact issue has happened before and that was a quick fix while we investigate. Please let me know if it worked or not.

I refunded the game, but i pretend buy again. I waiting Steam deposits the money on my steam wallet. When this happens I will send you the logs and datastore

Unfortunately this doesn’t solve my problem, I tried this right now

Here is a link to a video showing the problem in detail:

Here is a link to all the files your team requested, including: Dxdiag, player.log, player-prev.log, DataStore folder and the crashreports:

I have done everything in the video that comes out to see if the problem was solved, in case it is of any use to you or if someone gives the solution to your problem. Still I can’t start it in any way, you have to fix this because it doesn’t make sense.

SOLVENTED PROBLEM :+1: :white_check_mark:

Well after spending hours looking for a solution to the problem, I was analyzing with an AI the log files that you told me to upload to the forum, the AI told me that it was a problem with the xbox controller and that I couldn’t find the xinput9_1_0.dll file and then it conflicted with the requests that the game made due to missing that file. Well, I downloaded it and installed it in the folder of the game’s .exe file, and to my surprise it worked perfectly. I have to say that AI has also told me that there were other problems related to the game code but it told me that the main problem to start the game was that missing file. If this can help someone I would be very happy to have it told. I hope I can help.

The method didn’t help me. There were no problems before the update.

Hi

Since these last two updates, I can’t start the game. It loads only to the Moon Studios logo, ant then crashes to the desktop.
Tried several times, and always the same result. Also tried changing the vsync to fast on the Nvidia control panel, but didn’t solve

Here are the logs and the rest of the files:

Go to my post: No Rest for the Wicked Won't Start - Solution Found - #2

Thanks, but moving a copy of XInput9_1_0.dll to the games .exe folder didn’t solve the problem for me. The game still crashes
