Brother Still Can't Play 3 months later

I reported this back when the game first launched after a couple weeks of updates with no luck. But at this point the game works on many devices and performs better for most, but it crashes on launch for my brother even after the latest update. Can we get some help with this? He has a high end machine and this is the only game he’s ever bought to crash like this one does. His specs are attached here.

it would probably help if you can get his crash log:

C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\backtrace\crashpad\reports

here you can find information on how to get the logs:

i assume you did the “usual”:

  • check for driver updates
  • verify integrity of game files via steam
  • tried out perf-diagnosis beta via steam

I’ll get that and edit this comment when I have it. He did the “usual” and then we waited several updates to see if it got resolved. Last time he shared the files the link never got clicked.

i am trying my best to merge post reporting the same issues for awareness, but i am also just human, and sometimes i miss things :slight_smile:

You’re totally fine. I love the game and think the team and you are doing a great job. Just disappointed my brother hasn’t been able to join in.

I am sending all the information to Tech team. Lets try and figure out what is going on here.

It’s been a couple more months, I hope this can be fixed before the co-op update. I think he would love this game if it could get past the launch screen.

Hey Dakota, this is still happening on the most recent patch I am assuming? We thought we were able to patch the problem.

I will re-open this ticket with tech to see if we can find the problem.

I will keep you updated. If possible, fresh logs (on the latest update) would help with this, but I will try and use the old stuff in the meantime. thank you!

Sorry to revive a dead post but it’s been almost a year and he still can’t play the game he bought. I’ll try to get you some fresh logs but I’m pretty worried that even after we finally get a co-op update a year after launch I won’t actually get to enjoy co-op. I have a few other family members who would probably pick up copies too but since the game doesn’t even start for him they’re not risking their money/time. It’s one of my favorite games of all time, it would be incredibly special to me if I could play it with my family.

i understand the frustration. it would be great if you could share more current logs with the current build.

and i will let the dev team know this issue still persists, even after all the updates and hotfixes.

I am sorry your brother is facing this issue!

May I ask if it crashes directly after the moon logo?
What are his specs (your link is no longer active)?

Has he tried the quick-fix options we have? Hopefully, one works for him!

  • Option 1 -
    If he has an Nvidia card, go to Nvidia control panel > Manage 3d Settings > Vsync > Off

  • Option 2 -

    • Open the game
    • Open %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\DataStore
    • Open AccountSettings_LOCAL.dat
    • Change “LastKnownSteamLanguage”:“” to “LastKnownSteamLanguage” :“english”
    • Close the game and wait for Steam Cloud to sync
    • Reopen the game

If those two options do not work, let us know.

He said no moon logo, only black screen and custom mouse icon. He did try to the two quick solutions you provided and it had no impact.

Can I get like a, “Sorry we couldn’t figure out the issue” or something? It feels like the last few times I’ve been told it’ll be looked into but then I’m just left with silence. I understand if it’s not a major priority, but at least say something.

He has a high end pc, I don’t think he’s going to want to use a cloud service when every other game works just fine.
