Finley's Black Market is TERRIBLE and needs a serious boost

Today i first met Finley in Sacrament, and i was all hyped for the “prestigious” deals i could possibly make with my golds.
Sad truth tho, as soon as he spawned, i asked to trade only to find that his market is filled with complete garbage items.
70% whites, 20% blues and only a couple of purples.
More important, Rares and Uniques don’t even have 4 traits, but they are completely random. So what i found there was far, far worse than what i found during my daily routine in the open world. Not even counting that a single white weapon costs 4 to 5 silver, when the Blacksmith sells a very solid white T1 for less than 1 silver.

For a unique NPC which spawns for 4 hours per week and deals in “prestige” items, this is absolutely flawed and Finley is completely pointless to the game. If you want him to be prestigious, you should at least make him sell Uniques and Rares with all 4 traits, and in a way higher rateo than whites. Actually, he shouldn’t even sell whites at all, and just focus on Rares and Uniques only.

Also, i noticed that his spawning time is misleading, as it states “8-12 AM” when it’s on London time, hence it’s “9-13 AM” for me at least. you should fix that to match our local time.

I agree with some things and disagree on other things.

I agree with you that currently Finley’s Shop does not live up to expectations. He should sell something different if he is available once a week.

I disagree with you on the fact that he shouldn’t sell as many whites, currently. For me this is the main reason to buy those items. I’ve been farming this entire week for a specific T2 set to enchant and get about 2-4 items after 2 hours of running around the map. Then I have to hope to get the right stats.

I think it would already be better if his shop was open daily. Just to alleviate some farming/enchanting frustrations.

He spawns right below the upper plaza. From the northern campfire, head downstairs and you should find him sit on a bench on the eastern edge of the alley

I would agree with you, if it wasn’t for the point that you can still get those whites on both the open world and Cerim Crucible. And since the Crucible is the endgame content, you get plenty of them.

I can understand the Whites from Finley if they weren’t single purchase, so that i could effectively try some enchanting spins, but since it’s a one-time purchase, the RNG locks them off from being solid. Not on an NPC spawning for 4 hours per week.

4hrs per week is some terrible QoL BS…

Is it really 4h? Sound like 16h to me.

For me T2 gear does not drop from the Cerim Crucible only T3 gear. So I disagree with you that you get plenty T2 gear, you do get plenty T3 gear though.

As for the second point I 100% agree, I was hoping for some enchanting rolls as well. I wanna complete the game in gear that matches my roleplay fantasy not look like a walking fashion disaster but with perfect affixes.

If enchanting changes, and weapon/gear availability is increased I’ll be fairly happy.

Edit: lower tier gear can drop, but at a significantly lower drop rate.

Ah 12AM is counted as midnight?
Then there’s a second comunication issue aswell

Can confirm he it’s 16 hours not 4. It is 16:50 for me atm and his shop is open.

I don’t think it is a communication issue. It is how AM/PM format works. In some countries this format is more used than in others. And generally 24h is more comfortable and understandable. So I understand where confusion may come from.

Yeah there are 2 formats for the AM/PM, so i got deceived.
I also repeat that the game states 8-12 AM, but the NPC spawned in my realm at 9 AM instead, so the timezone is based on London’s GMT

Yeah 12pm is midday and 12AM is midnight.

It’s generally best practice to use 11:59PM as closing time instead of 12AM, and it’s certainly not common to use #AM-#AM when referring to something that is also open the entire afternoon.

8AM-11:59PM would be more clear in this case

sorry, totally spitballing here, but wouldn’t it be crazy if we just used 24 hours… like the amount of hours the day actually has?

Yes, also it feels terrible to have to wait an entire week for a NPC. What happens if someone is always busy on saturdays, they have to change their computer time every time they want to buy something?

Totally forgot to add this to my comment.

Yes, while adding easily readable times into interfaces, the actual fix here should be to get rid of the “once a week” BS.

I get that we want the game to be immersive, but that shouldn’t come at the cost of becoming frustrating or plain unusable for a reasonable number of people.

If I’m playing 40 hours across Monday-Thursday I should have plenty of opportunity to trade with each merchant, especially the only one that apparently sells potentially reasonable gear.

Additionally, we should be able to easily “reroll” their offerings, just like going out- and into town in D2 resetting the gear of merchants. Otherwise, you check a merchant and he has crap, and it’s like “well, I guess I’ll reopen this game tomorrow again”

Probably not happening. Theyre already gauging to mood for a mobile version, that’s probably where all the timed stuff comes from. Dunno but i got a “this is gonna turn into a pay to skip timer kind of game sooner than later” vibe from this

When you scroll down on the twitter post you can see that all the critical posts/questions are not getting answered…

Imagine the 9-5 dad’s coming home from work, farm some materials to get their upgrade to see a 4 hour construction timer :joy:
