It’s already announced it will have difficulty settings, you are answering a very old post.
Ok. First time looking through here.
I think food as a variety of buffs would be good. Like it would make sense that certain foods could increase your base stamina, health or focus.
Shift the healing, stamina and focus replenish over to potions. At the moment I have 4 realms and have no desire to unlock the potion guy. Mostly because I recall unlocking him being a pain in the buttocks.
that’s the reason ‘difficulty’ is considered very subjective…
I think there’s some confusion going around when debating games in regards to difficulty… games are not sport, even if some games are made into or designed from the ground up as e-sports… most sports involve competition in some form, which requires specific challenge/difficulty-brackets settings… that’s not the case w/ games in general, where difficulty settings and proposed challenge just act as gate-keepers… since anyone can play any game (as long as they have enough money and time, obliviously), difficulty is defined by the average player… and set by the devs intent on top of that defined difficulty window… some people will always be cut off (gate-kept outside), maybe unfortunate but still the reality…
I agree tho, w/ the Elden Ring example… they way they’ve approached “difficulty” there versus their other titles is really what made it so successful… (it made so most time invested leads to some improvement/achievement, instead of a higher narrow threshold), those are lessons Moon Studios do not need to go through themselves, just observe and apply masterfully to their own game (if they really want to achieve similar success w/out going through the painful long process of pioneering it that is)
potions guy is useless… on top of being annoying (as a character, personal opinion tho), and that on top of the “unlocking process pain”…
I mean, having to do a quest to unlock a vendor is not a bad premise at all, but it must be worthwhile otherwise why bother, especially if it is something you need to redo every single realm you create (which you don’t have to by the way, you just need to do it once and go back to that 1 helm to access him, but obviously a lot of people don’t realize this so still an issue either way)
I don’t know how anyone can describe the freaking coolest side quest in the entire game as an “unlocking pain”.
Not everyone enjoys platforming at that level. And the reward for doing it is very meh.
It’s not even hard platforming. The Lowlands platforming and Marin Woods are harder and actually part of the story.
It’s just a really cool presentation and side bit of Cerim lore.
What platforming?? I recall the randomly appearing platform while being shot at from off screen mobs way more difficult being much harder in the side quest. I agree the whole concept is pretty cool. But I disagree with the difficulty. I don’t even recall platforming in the lowlands that is necessary. Marin Woods a little but keep in mind when you die you aren’t screwed. In the side quest if you die you have to start from the beginning!
well.. that’s why I’ve put in quotes, some people clearly do, irregardless of what exactly any one individually thinks…
you or I..
subjective stuff bud, subjective…
