Hi, I am experiencing a bug, but unsure whether other people also have it. I am using a XBOX controller, and the only way I can use it in game is to activate and link to the laptop before opening the game. That means, if you are the guy who starts the game and turn on the controller, you can use keyboard only.

Can add to this I’m using a Playstation Dualshock4 and if the cable disconnects while the game is open (possibly while tabbed out) it will sometimes fail to register when it’s plugged back in and there is no way to get pad control back without closing and reopening the game

I’m having the same issue with my xbox elite 2 controller. Additionally, if I step away for some time and the controller goes to sleep while the game is running; when I turn it back on the game no longer recognizes it. I have to restart the game to get it to pick up the controller again.
Not the end of the world, but I would expect the game to be able to pick it up while it’s running.
