Binding Parry to Controller Face Button

Currently, if I bind parry to my X button, it overrides the ability to use Rune attacks using that button. Using a steam deck, RB and LB are two of the least ergonomic buttons to press. It would be nice to offload all of their functionality to face buttons. Being able to bind parry to X would make the gameplay feel a lot better.

whatever you swapped your X to, swap your X rune attack to that same button?
or is it not possible?

Parry overrides the ability to have a rune attack on the same button. I’ve found a workaround using steam input but it’s inconvenient. Parry seems to bind as though it is a hold command instead of a tap.

If anyone is looking for the workaround, you can have x act as another button and then assign a button chord to convert it back to X when you use the rune trigger.

Oh now i understand what you actually was talking about.. To still have x as the rune button, but also be used for parry.

But how parry works is that it is supposed to have the input priority over every other button you are pressing or holding or button combinations, because it is a direct safety mechanic. I believe you would have heard alot more complaints if parry didnt have the priority

The solution you found for yourself is probably the best one you can use atm :+1:

if it is inconvenient to use steam input then that is true for consoles too, they both have the same solution.

You can also set up an Action set in the steam input i think, which i havent tried but i also have no reason to change buttons or input on my controller.

Ive only changed my dpad to 4way(no overlap)

I’d much prefer to use parry on RB or LB, but I’ve been playing on the steam deck and those buttons are terrible to press.
