Are bombs really popular in the game?

I’m curious about how popular bombs actually are. I have over 500 hours in the game and I’ve probably used around 10 of them total. Most of those were early on, when I was just testing what different items do, plus a few while leveling an alt character. Other than that, I almost never use them.

That might just be a personal preference—I generally don’t like consumables. Stopping, selecting a consumable, using it, and repeating breaks the flow for me. The main goal of the game is optimizing your character and gear. Character is usually strong enough to kill everything using weapons and runes alone. Thank you

would like to use them more but I find this game more enjoyable with controller and changing bomb type during a fight is so very inconvenient I end up using them only if I have the right one equipped during the fight. If I have buffs selected instead I simply do not use anything else.
I sadly do not have alien hands that allow me to control my character and switch bomb at the same time.

Not entirely the Devs fault though as they do not design controllers.

Nobody uses it. 5 silver ingots and 10 coal for 10 bombs it’s extremely expensive and also it should scale of an attribute base damage is not good

Yes i can relate to that.. its also very inconvenient to throw bombs because when you are out of one type of bomb it directly switch to poitions instead of another bomb type.

It would be better if they let us slot bombs into an offhand rune slot or a rune that have a pouch ability or

A bomb thrower weapon for the offhand where you can slot your craftable bombs in which also would give you a range marker like some bows get so you know how far its going?

I use bombs alot!

You know theres enchantments for that?

Anyways no its not extremely expensive because of how much bombs you find usually in small chests(ofc that an rng aspect) if you dont do bomb builds i dont really see a reason for you to value it that high, it is very niche builds

Silver ore is not that hard to find if you know where to find it and ofc these builds is better as side projects after you have upgraded your stuff :wink:

Good to know. I wrote it from my own perspective, and I’ve only ever seen them used in guides as a way to deal high damage when you don’t have any items (basically for leveling alts).

5 silver or is more expensive than an endgame armor which requires 3 silver ingots. Silly ring increases damage by 30% which is nothing. It’s not hard to find it takes ages to refine and it’s annoying to use.

Yes that is one way but to level alts fast you are wanna slot experience boost gems into all your equipment and use the experience potions then you can throw bombs and use wands and shield because if you use bows it doesnt/shouldnt count the offhand shield stats.. and because you slot gem into quivers.

Its good to save the low level armor from your main character, see it as an early gift for your alts

You are forgetting gear enchantments!

the bomb damage enchantments and the enchantment the lowers the chance of consuming a bomb is something you can roll on your gear

what the hell are you smoking those enchantments dont exist at all

Yes it would break the flow if you dont make sure that you only have bombs in your quick item inventory and use the utility runes for boosting your stats instead of consumables.

Do you use plauged gear?

Yes indeed it looks like you are correct however i have the legacy enchantments for them still so i can use them

just so you know i aint smoking any mushrooms..

Is it worth it? Or just a fun build?

just for fun and like @Gupegegam said “they dont exist” and at the moment i have Legacy enchantments you cant get ahold of i guess if they dont exist but i just cant remember if i got them before the together beta 2025.. or if i got them while waiting for the together update in jan 2026.

However they probably need reworking because i know someone made a really OP bomb build on youtube a while back xD

I don’t use them because as others have said it is clunky.

But I like the idea of a Grenadier bomb class.

I think the way to make the gameplay smooth is to have the throw be triggerable like runes are. One of the bumper or triggers, + A,B,X or Y.

Perhaps this is always available or requires an item to be equipped.

A controller with rear paddles is a game changer. I never stop moving while navigating the d-pad. It all mapped to my paddles. I tend to pop potions like skittles in hardcore to ensure I come out on top.

I always thought about doing a full bomber run and fists (unarmed) but unsure what that scales with if not dex. Would be nice to have rune attacks for unarmed as well. Without gauntlets.

There is atleast 1 standard rune attack for unarmed which you cant remove and yea maybe a bit sad there isnt more.. but atleast its something

Bombs that deal physical DMG is a good way to trigger shatter on frozen enemies  i think its the one bomber build that is used most atm..:+1:

Bombs should be more useful even without builds specifically designed to use them, I’ve never found them useful.

Pots In Elder Ring and Dark Souls bombs are much more useful and easier to obtain.

Using building materials that will otherwise be used to craft or upgrade weapons and armor is clearly too expensive.

Bombs should be much stronger, but to offset this, just like food, there should be a limit on how many you can use while fighting the same enemies.

Based on Thomas’s write out of the class guides. I think bombs right now is the preview version of the future “Bag of Tricks” we will be able to slot into our weapon slots.

Making throwables limited doesn’t really make sense since its combat. It would be like limited ammo for a bow. I have stacks of 90+ of each bomb right now just from chests.

It is definitely not something meant to be a primary mode of combat though, at least currently.

I don’t know if you played Elden Ring and Dark Souls but in those games the bombs are the same only they do more damage but you can use a limited number of them.

And if I have to choose between a useless item that I can use endlessly and a useful one that has limited uses, I choose the second option.
