World level should scale with player level

Hi, I’m writing this to reply to Mikey, as I said on the review on steam, right now you’ve to create each time a new realm (and it really sucks to do so, because your building take a lot of time to build and to grind the supplies to make them), so long story short, when I’ve completate the main story i wanted to make a new pg to replay the game but with a whole another build (a magician per say), but when I created the pg i was on the beach I tried to kill a crab (with main pg it takes 1 swing to kill it [almost like every other normal mobs]), and it took like 25 punches to kill a crab, and I remember that with the new realm and pg i took like 2-3 punches to kill a crab.
So I would like to see a better realm scaling (at least for singleplayer), a note I remember when i killed the boss of the sewers the difficulty in the world spiked in every place, each mob could kill me with a single hit, I was like wtf, the same mobs in the same places but their dmg went like 5x-10x than before.

Beside that why there are time gates for buildings in a singleplayer? I would be ok if it would been a mmo, but it’s not a mmo so for me it makes no sense, (I’m okey with the time for smelting and so on). I say that because for almost every upgrade i farmed the supplies, made the order and then immediatly logged off because i had nothing else to do. (I find boring the “end game” right now).

About the rest the game for me is almost a 10/10, story, graphics and gameplay are fire.

There is no problem. You can run to Sacrament on the main realm with your new character. And then log out and join back to the new realm.

Now every time you need to visit Sacrament you can just hop to the main realm and your character spawns where you left it in there.

It’s not that the point, I would like to play with my new pg in the same realm as the main, i don’t like to make a new realm to just play, if the building would be shared then yes otherwise no.

Okay. I don’t agree with you.

Okay I’m genuinely trying to understand here … why don’t you just run to Sacrament and put your higher end gear on your new character in your main realm? Why are you trying to punch the crabs on the beach?

Not really the same realm if everything is different to cater to a lower level character, is it?

It’s super easy and quick to get to a decent level, to join your main realm, once you’ve played through once. Breeze through without collecting building materials or upgrading. By mid teen levels you’ll be able to join a max level realm no problem.

The crabs to level up (it’s the first mob that you meet), my gear is lvl 21+ I can’t give it to my other pg.

@mindlesspuppet to get to level 21 it took me 19 hours…

Just buy early level gear at Filmore on your main and pass it down to your alt. Your alt is able to go in your house and access the chests and everything.

I think you’ll be surprised how quickly you level up on the second go. And you don’t really need to get to 21 to join your main realm. My main was lvl 30, I was able to comfortably join at lvl 15ish.

No the gear you want to actively use has a level 21 requirement because it’s Tier 3 gear. You are fully capable of taking a tier 1 weapon & armor piece and upgrading it to tier 2 or higher thus your new character can use it and as long as you have engaged with the gameplay loop and upgraded the town that’s easy.

I’m just here to disagree with the OP. World scaling with character level is a big mistake. It made Diablo 4 a lot less fun than it could have been.

What could be done to mitigate your issue is add some respawns of low level enemies/critters to some of the little islands near the beach. This also provides new players who struggle against Warrick with some extra opportunity to farm/level up and shouldn’t affect higher level players much.

Why are you wasting time upgrading a new town or punching crabs on the beach? Like others have said just run to your main hub, put on better gear your main has saved up and you will be strong enough to go punch crabs all day.

When I make an alt I play the entire pre-Sacrament bit because not only do I enjoy the freshness and vulnerability but I also get some levels on the char to make the transition even smoother for when I join my main realm. What’s even better is having saved up a small stack of Ichor and XP pots.

I’m not upgrading a new town, i tried to play a new pg in the same realm as my main.

There is already world scaling (done bad in my opinion), i remember when i did the boss in the sewer my whole world went from every place with the suggestion “safe” to “mortal or dangerous(i don’t remember 100%)”, I would prefer the same thing as you, but they’ve put already a world scaling. After i went out the sewer i wanted to farm some wood so i went to sailor’s fort, and i found out that i went from the big G of the place to a plant, every mob killed me with a single hit (i’m talking about the main [the first character]).
So there are two ways for me:

  1. you go all in with world scaling so the realm scales with the most levelled up character online in the realm.
  2. you remove all world scaling and you leave zones with level ranges (1-10 es), like mmo or bethesda’s singleplayers (es fallout3).
I’m citing fallout 3 because in that game you could go wherever you like, but it’s not said that you can succeed.

It could be an option when creating a new world “scale to player level”

to have worlds with different difficulties is a great thing

  1. It’s supposed to be difficult & the CEO said that in the future he does want there to be a more dynamic form of scaling than the current form.

  2. you didn’t answer my 2nd question, why don’t you just use your resources to upgrade Tier 1 armor and weapons to T2 or T3 so your new character can use it?

Yeah just having a range of enemies and not strictly Level 11s & 21s would help mitigate this problem fs

Not to mention, if you save all the experience potions you find for alts, should get you to level 10 or so, I just did this last night.

I could be mistaken, but I think the realm scales with events, so as the story moves forward enemies get more difficult and variety changes.

I think the we can have this as an option so if there is guys like or dont like it, he can turn on or off at new game option
