I was very interested in what Madrigal means. I can’t figure out if it’s a last name or some kind of position. Please help me study this point in detail.
I would assume from context that it is a religious title, most likely very high ranking. I think there is in game lore explaining it. If I find it again I will let you know where it is.
If memory serves, there is reference in writing to another Madrigal of a different name, female also, in one of the lore interactables. I cannot recall if this one was written by Sulin Froth, or if my mind is playing tricks on me, but there can be certainty the term is a title.
In reality, madrigals are poems or songs. The word derives from mater or matrix, mother or womb; the title may thus be exclusive to female leaders of the church. Wicked uses Latin and religious terminology for naming in several places: Sacrament is sacramentum, a thing forfeited to the gods (and many later meanings), and Isola Sacra is Latin or Italian for a holy island (and in later Latin, sacer has the pleasing double-meaning of blessed and cursed).
(Forgive the necromantic posting. Through my most recent playthrough and more intrusive means I attempted in vain to find the writings again. I hope I did not hallucinate them. I’d have liked to establish a timeline, but alas.)
Interesting, you probably don’t remember the location?
I don’t recall reading a reference like that but I will hunt for it now! ![]()

No, but I wish I remembered where I read it. Even ran across the map to every book I could remember.
It was definitely in a book? I can imagine I missed maybe a small note, since the interact prompt is quite short for most things.

It could’ve been a note, some dialogue, or even the base of a statue. I used the interactive maps to check every lore interactable I could reach, attempting to find it again without success.
I’m considering whether it was underground or in a location that is no longer accessible in my completed world. (Or whether I dreamt it, but I hope not.)
Further digging
The matter bothered me and I couldn’t find a full-text export, so I exported all strings of Il2CppMoon.Forsaken.LocalizedMessage.English and TMP_Text.text myself. A bit trickier than I thought, especially since not everything is loaded at once. Found most dialogue and book strings, but no luck. Maybe I should’ve fiddled with the game files instead – or I did misremember something.
Interesting, I don’t think any interactables get moved when the Realm progresses. That would leave Npc dialogue, since that does get shuffled a lot.
I shall ponder this.
