I understand this is an Early-Access title and that things will be added or changed in the future. These are just a few things I’d like to see some improvements too in the future.
Stats
Currently there is no In-Game resource like a encyclopedia that talks about Stats, how they work and how the interact with each other. This means you’d either have to do a lot of testing, try and google to find an answer or just guess how things interact which isn’t the greatest experiance.
An exmaple is 20% Increased Damage based on Durability seems pretty straightforward that it is a 20% increase at Max durability and becomes less with damage to the items durability and Indestructible would give you the 20% at all times since it would be at Max durability all the time.
But in the interview with Zizaran from 4 days ago around the 24:00 mark Thomas talks about Durability and these stats and says "Or you could also add to that Increase Durability to the item right? so the effect to go even higher.
Does that mean that either you never reach the 20% Increase with the base durability of an item or is there some hidden interaction that isn’t actually shown to the player that makes Increase Durability allow the 20% Increase based on Durability to go past it’s on stated limit?
There is also things like does Plague count as Elemental damage in Crucible? Does Healing affect Lifesteal/Regain/Regen in combat and does it affect healing spells?
Also being more transparent about things like Regen/Drain HP/Focus in combat. It’s clear what they do but not how much they do it by, if they stack
Poise is also needs more clarity in terms of what level you are on so you can build around it and not just guess or hope that what you have is enough for what you want or need.
Focus from Weapons and Focus Gain should dynamically update either in the character sheet or on the weapon stat itself.
Re-rolling stats is tedious. Let us re-roll several stats on a single item at once and don’t kick us out of the item after we have re-rolled a stat it is a lot less clicks if we need to back out once when we are done rather than have to select an item 10 times if we want to re-roll it 10 times.
Also it would be nice to know what can and can’t be rolled on what items and what can’t be on the same item togather. As a new player it can often just become “Spam until something that seems good comes around.” . And with so many stats have different modifers like “At low health”, “Based on Durability”, “Stagger an enemy”, “on Backstab” and so forth it becomes quite tedious to just parse through it all or even just find the right stat you want with at a good level.
There is also the annoying part of Stats jumping around when re-rolling. Leave the stats where they are and let me arrange them how I want without them jumping around and affecting read-ability of the item.
Runes
As for Runes there should be a way to view the Runes similar to the Enchanter anywhere and for those that give buffs state what excactly the buff does similar to how it is with Food and Potions right now. Also would be nice to know before extracting a Rune if it is locked to a weapon type or not.
Elemental Enchantment runes needs an update to their description. It currently states it embues your weapon with say fire for Heat Enchantment but in reality it gives both your Main- and Off-Hand weapon fire damage so you can have a Bow in your off-hand with Heat Enchantment to buff your main-hand weapon and save a rune slot. Oils are the same, they buff both main- and off-hand weapons but only state singular weapon.
Why can’t shield have Runes? If you are using a One-Hand weapon and never use blocking a bow even if you don’t use it is a better choice since you can add buff Runes to the bow to free up slots on your main-hand or skip having to switch to a “Utility” weapon that has buffs. In my current build my bow is just a stat stick and for Lightning Enchant and Damage Surge.
*UI/Controls
Why is there no option to show Health/Focus numbers on the UI? There is an option for about everything else except for that. It would be so nice to be able to see my exact health or even how much max health I have without having to open the character sheet.
Also let me scale the size of Damage and Healing Number and for how long they are on screen. Things like trying to look at how much healing I gain through Lifesteal is really hard to see becouse the numbers a very small and disapper almost instantly.
The game randomly forgets my keybinds upon start up every once in a while and it’s not noticeable untill I’m actually playing and often in a fight. Also some UI elements aren’t actually updating to reflect the changes in keybinds.
How you select Food and Consumables is really bad. I should be able to add and remove items so that random Food and Consumables I pick up while exploring doesn’t clog up the UI when I try to use the things I personal brought along with me.
General Gameplay
Add the Cerim Crucible as a Fast Travel point. Having to run there to run the Crucible or change attributes sucks. Bought The Knot just to have a Fast Travel point a bit closer to the Cerim Crucible to cutdown the travel time.
There are 2 training dummies in town yet neither of them work. They should be made in to functional training dummies so we have a safe place to test things.
Edit
To illustrate how Stats and Rerolling can become a spreadsheet simulator if no or not enough in-game info is given check out this build bible that was created for Nioh 2 which have a similar problem of little to no in-game resources for stats/re-rolling.
Basically to know what could roll, at what values, on what pieces and what conflited someone with the help from the community created that massive spreadsheet
