The game is a huge ball of frustration; not challange (most of the time)

Okay, after playing the game for almost 40 hours, finishing the campaign twice, sucking at crucible wildly, doing gathering, understanding and learning the gear systems, exploring every corner of the map, here are my thoughts on this game. I do hope devs will see this.

AI does not register if any other mob attacking the player, they just try to attack you mindlessly, literally ganking the player as hard as they can. Especially in crucible, it’s just a frustration. Becaus of this, fast weapons are always better no matter how hard a slow weapon hits. If you die you die anyway, and every mob hits like a truck.

If that’s not enough, because of no respec, every single stat you gave different than you have in your hand automatically renders your game harder and harder, if the game is not hard enough. Though, I think you guys are bringing that system soon so anyway.

Weapons that are dropping are completely RNG. I created a new char just because there is no respec, and now the new char can not even find a new faith weapon. Still the first weapon I found in the start of the game, and I finished the whole EA campaign.

The stat reqs are too strict based on the amount of weaponry you can get, so it really forces the player to literally commit to a weapon like a zealot in a cult, which is why my friend literally stopped playing the game.

I like cooking and all of that, yet it becomes a chore when you force people to it. I would love to see a flask that refills every time you touch a whisper, but it gives basic amount of hp. crafted foods gives some other benefits as well, so they would still keep their importance this way, I guess.

Most fun I had playing this game was going on my alt char’s realm with my main, and I think this explains the problem. Characters level super slow, the world’s scaling doesn’t make any sense because every mob hits very hard and they hit at the same time. Again, especially in crucible.

Listen, it’s not my first souls experience. I played lots of souls-likes, and the souls itself. I got frustrated in souls as well, but not in this way. I always knew that I did something wrong, and the game is not fair.

In this game, when I die, I feel like my death was not justified by the artificial difficulty made by multiple mobs attacking me all together, because why not.

Exploration does not reward anything. When is the last time you found a chest that did not give you armour and weapon upgrade material or some material you will never use? Finding gear in this game is already a miserable experience, at least I would love to see some weapons dropping on the chests.

If respec comes, please, in the name of gabe don’t make it limited or super expensive or hard to do. That’s a terrible idea I don’t know why games does that but please don’t be one of those. Let people experiment and have fun with different builds. Don’t be souls that much, pls.

Things I liked:

  • Animations are super fluid, and feels great to kill stuff.
  • Bosses are beautifully designed.
  • Very active dev team, trying their best.
  • Rapiers, duel daggers feels really nice.
  • Most satisfying parry sound I have ever heard in any game.
  • Upgrade system is very cool.
  • Rarity tiers makes a lot of sense. Though, wish we could reroll 1 stat of an item. At least re-roll the curse on an item with the price of reducing its max durability forever. that could be cool.
  • Backstab animations are, absolute bangers.
  • Map is so well done. I felt like going through a metroidvania game but souls and diablo at the same time, very special feeling.

I really, really hope that this game will deliver the premise of changing the genre. I really hope that this game will carve its name on the history. I won’t be playing until the AI of this game has some improvements because it just frustrates me, I am no longer having fun sadly. Especially leveling a second and finishing the game again, yet feeling the same problem of world scales so ahead of me and no gear just killed my lust to play all together :frowning:

Best of luck, I will keep following this game. Good luck and have fun everyone

Hey man,

I really disagree about fast weapons beeing better, I am leveling a second character and beat all the crucible levels (except the boss) with a 2 handed hammer at level 19 using str + faith, with nothing crazy, so definetly can be done, chek this. Remember this is end game content so I suppose the difficulty is set for level 25+. I think what I struggle more with this build is the low mobility due to the Heavy armor set, but not the weapon itself.

The same about the world I never feeled it was too hard, most boses took me less than 5 attemps, and I think I died more with fall dmg than mobs, it might be your build or your way to play it, or maybe really bad luck. I realized that if you get an item you like, e.g a weapon with a moveset that you like, its better not to enchant it because you might get a very bad option and you can’t use it anymore, so any gear that is good I am ifusing it instead of enchanting until I got it repeated or a second option. Also sometimes its better to buy low tier gear in quantity, enchant it and once you find a good option upgrade it.

About the drop, I kind of agree with this, I feel there is a lot of weapon variety that never dropped to me yet and I have like 50 hours in the game, same with rings, you usually get the same ones over and over. And what I think its worst is the crafting, I would love to be able to farm materiasl for a particular weapons but crafting those also ask for some RNG materials that you don;t have any place to farm, you just need to be very lucky the materials appear in the crucible or the vendors and same with recipes.

I would say that drop could kind of stay the same if we have a better way to craft equipment, where you can go and look for something in particular not totally rng.

About respect I am ok for it to be limited or expensive, this allows you to commit to something and replay the game with new characters, if its pretty cheap you just don;t care about anything, imo that sucks.

Hope this helps, its just another point of view

I think the perspective has a play on expectations from the slow weapons.

On my first play through, I wanted to try multiple weapons so my stats start to be all over the place. I’m at level 24, with 28 str, 28 dex, 26 int at the same time because of changing weapons basically. So it was very hard for me to deal proper damage in crucible really, its hard when you do not have any commitment to one of them. I watched people with 60 on their primary etc. so my build is very inferior to most of the builds sadly. When respec is implemented, I will play around a bit, see what changes because most of my frustration comes from stats I guess.

I leveled a second, full faith. I still didnt get a faith weapon again xD Using tier 1 after beating the whole game again. Idk man, no clue. Though, I can understand where you coming from. Thanks for your input

Well yeah if you don’t commit to a build it will be very hard but the same thing will happen in any dark souls / elden ring, the difference its here we don’t have respec stats yet but well that will come.

Also the weapon stats requirements might be to high here I saw a lot of people complaining about that, so you need to invest a lot to try new weapons, I hope the stat requirements get reduced or varies depending on the weapon itself now its like all X weapons have 42 or 26 and 26 or even I saw 38 and 38 which is crazy…

We will need to wait!

Oh yeah it is. Though, it does not justify the fault by pointing out a different fault xD Got your point tho. Let’s hope that they will polish the game in QoL department.
