Hello fellow Cerim,
First off, I’m absolutely loving my time in Isola Sacra. The world is incredible, and the core gameplay loop is challenging and rewarding. Moon Studios has done a fantastic job, and I’m excited to see how the game evolves throughout Early Access.
As I’ve progressed, I’ve started to accumulate a large number of gems in my stash that I’ll likely never use. For every useful gem I find for my build, I have a dozen others just taking up space. This is especially true for gems that don’t align with my current weapon or armor setup.
This got me thinking about a potential quality-of-life improvement that I believe could enhance the crafting and gearing system: What if we had a way to exchange or convert unwanted gems into ones we actually need?
Here’s a rough idea of how it could work:
- A Gem Trader NPC: Perhaps Eleanor, the Enchanter, could offer this service. It fits her theme perfectly.
- Conversion System: We could trade a certain number of lower-tier or unwanted gems for a different one. For example, trading 3-5 of any gem type could let you choose a new, specific gem in return.
- Random Reroll: Another option could be to trade in a gem for a random new one, adding a bit of a gamble to it.
Why would this be a good addition?
- Reduces Stash Clutter: It would give players a way to manage their growing collection of gems, making inventory management much cleaner.
- Increases Player Agency: It would give us more control over our builds and reduce the frustration of being entirely reliant on RNG for that one specific gem we need.
- Adds a New Resource Sink: It creates a meaningful use for items that would otherwise just sit in the chest forever.
I know that Patch 1 thankfully allows us to remove gems now, which is a fantastic step forward! A conversion system feels like the next logical evolution for the gem economy.
I’m curious to hear what other players think. Would a feature like this be something you’d find useful?
Cheers!
