As this is my 1st post, gotta start by saying what a gem of a game this is!
Does everyone else have the mysterious money glitch? From day 1 the money shown has never matched mathematics. At first I was peeved and took it as a bad reflection on their game design, but now I just accept it as part of the game’s quirkiness.
Also, I understand the silver and the common coin (looks like a mini pizza), but the white coins in the top left, no idea.
Final question, Torn Sinew. Where do you get it? I think it must be story locked for me probably. In roots that bind, I’m at the boss fight in the temple. Several enemies, waves of plague stuff etc., too tough so far on normal. The weeping Sisters, I’m at the Bear Boss fight, which I hope to pass using a tanky blocking build with a decent stagger hammer. Have to say here that I’ve seen all sorts of stuff about super builds for this and that, and watched videos of players who seem OP and just breeze through everything, but I think they’re end game with exalted gear etc. coz I’ve given it my best efforts on Focus, Stamina and Damage builds and nothing is easy breezy for me so far, so I suspect again that a lot of this stuff must be story locked to me.
Torn Sinew is available past the end of the current campaign. You can’t upgrade items past level 12 until then (though depending on your character level might see drops up to level 14).
You may have seen OP builds from before the most recent patch, which has drastically reduced player power across the board. This was slightly controversial, but in my opinion enormously healthy for the game. (And you can still get OP in post-game if you want.)
For UI elements of unknown meaning, a screenshot is worth a hundred words.
The ‘mysterious money glitch’ has been confusing people for a good while. Coins are converted to higher denominations: Once you exceed 100 copper, they’ll be converted to 1 silver, and 100 silver to 1 gold. Nothing is bugged; internally money is calculated in copper coins.
If you’re at 87 copper and sell something for 30 copper, you’ll be at 1 silver and 17 copper.
Compare, for instance, this compilation of reports:
Thanks Konrad, that’s solved the mysterious money element. The UI element I don’t understand is 14 units in the top left of my screenshot, don’t know if it’s money or something else.
Indeed, those are gold coins. Here’s a closer look.
The gold coin depicts the phoenix, born of flame, the sigil of House Bolein[1]. The silver coin depicts the late King Harol. The copper coin appears to show a griffin, which I have not yet identified with any other heraldry.
Reading significantly too far into it, I wonder if this is a reference to the ‘rebirth’ of Anne Boleyn through her daughter, Elizabeth I. ↩︎
I’m a slow old gamer but methinks the coin drops finally. If I read your exclamation mark correctly, I’ve got quite a lot of money eh? Coz 100 copper = 1 silver and 100 silver = 1 gold, is that correct?
Thanks Konrad, you really know your stuff! Seems that if 100 silver = 1 gold, then I’m a wealthy Cirim. Maybe I should buy some more houses and see if I can rent them out to the next lot of adventurers passing through eh?
Given that I’ve single handedly renovated the entire place, they ought to make me Mayor at least.
Considering the Cerim are mute, that’s a mayor I’d vote for – no speeches, much action. Though I’m sure the people of Sacra will thank you with a statue instead (and make you gather the materials for it)
