Same problem here. I’ve tried all the fixes and nothing. I don’t want to turn off smart app control either. I played the game today before dinner and afterwords I tried to play again and started getting this error. After researching through smart app control help section it said, instead of turning off smart app control, reach out to the developers and ask them to update their signatures.

Thank you for looking into this. This game is amazing and I hope this is resolved soon. I’m ready to get back into the action. I looked into how to properly report bugs section, and I don’t even know where to start finding all that information. Hopefully, some other users will be able to spell it out better for you than me.

Seems like the dev just need to update their app certificate. I see this a lot with security signing as I’m in cybersecurity. It’s an easy fix.

I just disabled smart app control and game is running fine now. I feel safe enough without it anyway. hope this doesn’t bite me. I really hope these youtubers were right about this.

I have tried updating Windows and verifying the integrity of game files through Steam. However, the issue still persists.

I have just updated everything I could on my pc, including windows and manufacturer’s drivers and game started working again.

Got it fixed. Smart App Control is atrocious and horrible.

When you say “manufacturers” you mean drivers?
Yes, I just edited my comment to make it more clear. That way I was able to start the game again. It seems that windows fixed something and it started to recognize the game again as a non-harmful app or something.

Microsoft just update a new window defender version. You can fixed this issue with the command line that they gave:
cd %ProgramFiles%\Windows Defender
MpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignatures
MpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate

there is a workaround until they fix it.
change the Date on your PC, to 1-1-2026 by doing the following steps:
Search for “Date & time settings” → Then disable “Set the time automatically” → Click “Change” → and change the date to “Januray 1, 2026”
This allows the game to run, but you might encounter some other issues when browsing the web.
So after the patch yesterday the game worked fine for me. Logged in today 29 Jan and now the game is not working again.

I am having the same problem. Got the Smart App is preventing the game game from running. I have been playing this all week until today January 29, 2026. Now it is not allowing me access. What has changed?
