Reliable threads and garment farming

I love the game, the challenge is great. If you fail, it’s (usually) your fault. Figure it out. Learn the tells. But, farming (can I even call it that?) for threads and/or garments to try out different builds is killing my desire to play the game. It’s completely unreliable and frustrating.

You need ore? There’s nodes for that. Food ingredients? There’s nodes and beasts. Need leather? Beast again. Weird beast/humanoid part? You guessed it, beasts!

There is no reliable way (and I don’t mean easy) to get threads and garments, except for the vendors who might sell 1 to 3 of them, randomly, once a day (Mari and Meri, Grinnich and Seneschal – Finley, when he decides to shows up). It seems to me like there should be a better way to get them. They seem to be part of a large and very diluted drop pool of humanoids, chests, dig holes and random blue/orange flame loot thingies.

At first, I thought about gear deconstruction that would yield 1 or 2 of the items needed to craft the gear (depending on gear level). You could end up with a piece of ore, beast part or thread, specific to the gear. But, that would make it too easy. Just throw enough gear at it to get materials, right? There’s plenty of gear drops after all.

I think a simpler solution would be that humanoids (unless they bring in some naked dudes…) should drop threads and garments, just like beasts drop leather and meat. Reliably. Not guaranteed, but with a significant drop rate so that I can farm them and eventually get what I need to make gear and gamble for the facet I want for the particular build I want to try.

I’d like to be able to farm it reliably, like I can farm leather.

One last word: Reliably.

Considering threads come from a raw material that is grown - we will likely see more crafting additions in their next feature update which is rumored to include farmland/houses for purchase and their new class scaling system. Along with tool enchantments and a new tool.

Everyone have probably noticed that there is an NPC that walks around and Waters his fields in Sacrament by now?

@ Guts: I,d like that, depending on how long the crops take to mature and be ready for harvesting. I’m a fan of Valheim. In that game, it takes 3 real-time hours for crops to mature, but I could accept it taking a bit more time in this one.

Guess those extra tool slots are going to be useful after all!

@ askan94: Yeah, I’ve seen that guy. I keep stealing his crops!

Mainly, for me, it’s about being able to experiment more with gear enchantments and see what works or not for my playstyle, without having to throw a whole bunch of embers at it. First to make it and then to revert it if it doesn’t workout. Though, I found a good way to farm embers: fishing!

It is rumored to rely on when rain hits and sun to mature it in game from what Thomas has shed light on.

I think it will be balanced, my concern is plot sizes and the grids/plantable resources.
