I’m getting regular crashes, it seems to be whenever I leave any kind of menu/certain UI elements.
Steps to reproduce (one example):
- Steam - Open No Rest for the Wicked
- Click Settings
- Click Graphics
- Click ‘Quality Presets’, changed from Custom to Performance
- Press ESC (back) on keyboard.
- At this point the setting change doesn’t save and the main menu does not appear, instead it freezes for 20 seconds
- After 20 seconds the game closes.
I had tried this repeatedly and can reliably cause this crash.
What DOESN’T crash
- I can load into the game, click Realm - join
- I can run around and attack (Left Click) dodge (Space) loot, eat.
- I can load other areas
- I can dismiss Hint Tooltips by pressing ESC
- I can respawn, quick travel
What else crashes
- Any other Main menu option
- Any other menu option after loading into the game (the menu also looks a bit funny before it crashes, like it didn’t load correctly)
- Inventory (I) and then pressing ESC to leave inventory
Troubleshooting attempted
- Steam Verified files
- Restarted PC
- Changed to Windowed mode
- NVidia control panel - turned off Vertical Sync
- Changed my pagefile.sys to 8GB
- Reinstalled game on a different hard drive
I’ve recorded a short video of replicating the issue and saved the player.logs, there was no files under \AppData\LocalLow\Moon Studios\NoRestForTheWicked\backtrace\crashpad\reports
Errors in the player.log
- PlayerPrefsException: Could not store preference value
at UnityEngine.PlayerPrefs.SetString - NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
- Unstable environment, too many exceptions, terminating build.
