Quality of Life-Frustrations-Artificial Difficulty And High Hopes for this game!

My Demographic… I’m 50 and have been playing ARPG’S for 30 years+

Beautiful game, combat is really good for the most part.

However… If this is Souls combat with a ARPG interface then I think this wonderful game needs the following ARPG elements.

RNG Crafting/Enchanting - NOT a fan… BUT the white items and the ability to customize is fantastic… BUT 2% more damage and 23% less health?
12% focus loss on damage taken?

I hate stats like this and it really feels more like artificial difficulty.
Diablo 4 has been riddled with artificial difficulty. One year after launch D4 DEV’S ARE FINALLY removing 95% of the artificial difficulty and it’s cost D4 a huge player base. I really don’t want to see that happen here.

Animation Canceling !!! Speaking of artificial difficulty…
Please, the combat would be SO much better with Animation canceling.

NEEDS -Mini map-upper right corner

The weight system is punishing, I really hate it. Cut the item weight in 1/2 and then we have something to work with.

The Caster/ Mage class needs a re-think… As a caster I’m suppose to stay out of melee range, yet this game forces me to melee to build focus.
Some basic free to cast spells are needed.

Map-able controls- for mouse and keyboard…it’s 2024 can we please have PC control mapping. - I know this is coming … Thank you!

Fast travel to ANY Whisper !!! …Really NEED this , Honestly this is such a over site, I don’t think I will actually play the 1.0 version unless fast travel to all areas is added. NOT all people that play games are 10 hour a day streamers.
PLEASE DON’T WASTE OUR TIME with this lack of fast travel.

Inventory - it’s a mess- you know it we know it…

Falling and dying to camera angle occlusion really sucks!

Jump dying in town to unknown ledges is really frustrating!

Instead of falling to unknown ledges, hanging off a ledge would be much better. Maybe some type of strength/stamina/dex… So if your Str/Dex or Stamina is high enough you don’t fall BUT instead drop and hang on a ledge.

Some type of indicator that this is a fall to your death ledge, way to easy with camera angle to jump/run off the wrong surface and DEAD! then respawn and repair and then get back to death site… NONE of this is fun.

This fall to your death crap does not incentivize exploration, in fact it’s exactly the opposite and that’s a shame because there’s so much great design to explore. BUT nope I can’t see if this is going to make me fall to my death and I sure as hell don’t want to back track again so I’m just not going to explore.

100% agree on this. What a time waste… also: not fun

Glad to read I’m not the only one wasting tonnes of health in town

If you want the fast dash it should require some compromises to get, you want heavy armor with fast roll and no compromise on stats?
I played with fast dash but I had to mostly use leather armor and invest some points into equip load, I traded armor for speed and this is fine.

Totally Agree, please! i really think its prioritary.

Maybe I would put some less whispers, or I would put special whispers per zone (like the zone’s capital whisper) so I could teleport to them, but as it is now it feels like a very frustrating waste of time.

Thank you all for this great game btw!

A workaround to the whispers could involve treating them like a network, with the whisper in Sacrament acting as the hub. This would allow seamless travel between all whispers on the map. To maintain the original concept of strategic choice, other whispers should still primarily serve as fast travel points to Sacrament. Alternatively, they could facilitate fast travel to nearby whispers, further enhancing the network functionality.

Man players want the easiest game imaginable. This isn’t diablo that is only gear based and requires virtually no skill. They don’t want to make it so every piece of gear is perfect. You are supposed to work at it to find the right piece. Otherwise why would you play it? The only real complaint i have with gear is not being able to change runes or gems. Outside of that, there are lots of negatives on people gear that do not get in the way of your gameplay. Your job is to keep trying to find those.

That statement " players want the easiest game imaginable" is a massive over simplification and an incorrect assumption sir…

Most likely we’ll continue to upgrade the vendors in future content. Ideally this will open new avenues for customizing our gear to help eliminate some of the RNG elements. As for the artificial difficulty of Plagued items, they’re a good concept. The flaw is in the negatives they chose rather than the idea itself.

The thought process behind this was not hiding behind spells to pelt your enemies with and avoid the mechanics of fights. Games with similar combat suffer this fate and this was the attempt around it.

I don’t think we need this since the game is not procedurally generated. You will most likely end up memorizing the layout.

The “Alive” system encourages trekking through older areas. It’s the main reason why we can’t fast travel to other Whispers and I’m all for it. I prefer a reason to revisit instead of it becoming dead content upon completion.

The alive system is great, and fast travel between whispers can be implemented alongside it. Just like D2 waypoints + exit/enter game (that’s faster and more reliable than the nrftw replenishing system)

With fast travel the player can replay the areas they like, which is good

I still think I prefer not adding a pure fast travel. That being said, I won’t be opposed if it’s added. Ultimately it won’t make or break my enjoyment and if it will help many others, why not?

I would put 2 hearts on your comment if I could

Adding animation canceling would completely ruin combat. Part of the action combat experience is committing to a decision while fighting. This is not artificial difficulty, its core to the gameplay.

This is such an odd complaint. You acknowledge white items, which have very little RNG involved have fantastic customization.

But then gripe about purple weapons and enchanting which are supposed to be entirely about RNG.

Like, the solution to your issue already exists in the game and you already called it fantastic.

Focus is incredibly easy to get a ton of. Focus regen exists. Focus meals exist. Focus potions exists. A spell that converts HP to focus exists. Once you get to level 16+ or so it should be easy make a build that requires minimal to no melee attacks.

If the map gets any bigger I think you could be right. As it stands, it only takes a minute or two to run from home to anywhere. It’s actually pretty cool to do because different monster types and drops spawn in the areas you’ve been.

Seems like people just want to Whisper in, kill bounties, and whisper back in 30 seconds. Then they’d complain there’s nothing to do.

Fall damage is super aggravating early on, I can’t count the number of times I fell because the (A) button does too much. The odd thing is, if you can run and jump of a ledge, rather than just walk, you can manage to do a ground smash or a damage negating roll when you hit the ground. However if you just kind of run or stumble off an edge you’re doomed.
