Problem with Rings | Suggestions... What do you Guys Think?

So recently, I took off these 3 rings here (insert GigaChad gif here):
image
To ensure more fun fights (especially Echo Knight, cus I kept melting him with my mages build), and it was indeed a lot more fun fighting Echo Knight, rather than melting him off with these rings.

First of all, this ring gives armor and all damage bonus, and it’s called Fierce Ring.
The armor trait alone can be higher than a ring that only gives armor bonus. And then on top of that, gives damage bonus.
My point here is, that this ring is just too good man.
Then, there is also another ring, that specifically increases rune effectiveness (said damage increase, but I believe runic healings/focus gain are affected by it positively too), but Fierce Ring increases overall damage, and higher bonus value, than the ring that ONLY increases rune effectiveness.

But here’s another thing… as you can see in the image, I can literally stack these rings, which completely dominates build variety… At least for me, hence I took them all off in exchange for 2 focus rings, and rune effectiveness ring.
I thought mage runic attacks deal too much damage (which most of them still do), but the majority lies within these bloody rings.
When I first had in mind in trying to equip 2 of the same rings, I thought that won’t be possible, but I was wrong.
I can also stack 3 focus rings, for a flat 300 max focus increase, and a huge focus gain boost. Which is probably how these infinite focus gain things even came to be. And I’m afraid these still exist.

So I have some suggestions, and would like to know if people say something against it or have other suggestions, or simply agree with it:

    1. For each slot, you can only equip one unique ring.
    1. effectiveness on Fierce Ring halved, otherwise the rings that give one of these 2 bonuses become completely useless.
      Or rework Fierce Ring entirely.
    1. Seperate rings overall damage dealt into the 5 elemental damage with new rings, which in this game is:
Physical Damage, Fire Damage, Shock Damage, Frost Damage, and Plague Damage.
So one ring can give more fire damage, or a ring can give more plague damage etc.
Not only could elemental damage be increased, but also slightly add bonus to afflicting the element status effect.
This could also let people decide if they want to make an elemental damage based build for one specific element, which would offer more build variety I hope.

I am aware that this ring is tier 3, and I know the armor only ring is a lower tier, but that won’t matter, because the minimum & maximum bonuses are the same still, and it’s %increase, which can be dangerous, so things like %increase need to be carefully looked at.
And you can’t upgrade these rings to have it better effectiveness, and increase it’s tier level.

Not sure why tier levels exist for rings. I can either assume in future you can upgrade them, or it’s just there so these rings can’t be initially found in tier 1/2 areas, which is fine.

But yeah, what are anyone’s thoughts about it?

I do not agree with this 100%. I can accept it tho, since other games often just have 1 of the same name, or just give ring bonuses once, and using multiples of the same ring does not stack. I ran a dagger build tho, and i can tell you, 3x agility ring with the speed buff and stamina regen was just bonkers and super fun.

I would add another suggestion in there as point 4.:

A set bonus would be amazing. Lets say we are talking about raw dmg. Why not give a set bonus if you use fierce ring together with rings that give raw attack bonus and the “deal/take dmg” ring. I don’t know, give it an additional passive that is not listed on the rings, so people experiment with sets. Give it a focus buff for example you would not get when using only 2 of the 3 rings.

Just throwing in raw, unpolished ideas here…

Same with above. I heavily disagree. Using 3 of the same anything is optional and you shouldnt be forced on the community to use 1 each for the sake of artificial difficulty. If you think its too OP and dont want to do it, thats perfectly fine. But everyone else shouldnt be forced to do the same when they like the current system.

I think that all of these might be possible ways to make sure that builds require more thought put into them to work.
Many people just add Focus as a stat and run with attack rings.
I thing that blanket attack % buff is very powerful and dividing it into different categories might be the right way to go.
But, people who enjoy optimization will find a way to “Optimize the fun out of the game” no matter what you do to balance this kind of thing.

As for unique ring slots, I tend to agree with unique ring slots. However, it depends on the following factors for me since we are in EA:

  • A high quantity of rings.

  • Rings of various quality (blue, purple, yellow).

  • There should be unique effects that inspire builds (fiery explosions on charged attacks or something).

  • Overlap between rings regarding certain effects (stacking attack speed should be possible. But is achieved with equipping different rings).

Ideally rings either further enforce a playstyle or create a new playstyle on their own. I just want more ring variety so I can think more about my build. We don’t have too many rings currently. I’m fine with some rings being stat sticks but I would love for more interaction and depth in building my character.
