The Thistle Rings are currently pretty broken. They provide HP on damage dealt for whatever reason. I’ve got 3x of these equipped with about 70-90% of Healing Effectiveness increase and currently steal about 100HP per hit.
I doubt this is intended.
I have been playing around with a build where I put ALL of my stats into HP and wear the heaviest armor I can find with reflect % and Thistle Rings.
After farming gear that matches my preference I finally had a full set of plate armor, and each piece with 3% damage reflect. Awesome.
I threw on some Thistle rings because I wanted to have a theme and Thorns.
All went well, enemies slowly damage themselves by just hitting me and It is a lot of fun.
Then Echo Knight kills itself in under a minute and that felt a bit too strong. So I checked to see why the damage is so high.
Taking off the rings, I no longer do ANY damage to the boss when being hit. 0.
When tested with Only the ring and NO reflect, the damage is as high as in the first go around.
So all in all. Thistle rings do a ridiculous amount of damage and reflect gets added to the list of affixes that are currently place holders for things to come.
that is weird, i run a similar build, and i just recently added a thistle ring. (didn’t have one).
It worked without ring as well, but i’ll try later today what happens if i take that ring off, maybe that breaks something?

I really hope your post does not cause nerfs to the rings. Nerfs suck so much and I am so tired of things getting nerfed after feedback posts. I hope this does not ruin the fun of such a build.

yeah, this is confusing. Reads the same, but somehow is different.
Could it be that the 3% damage dealt on damage taken is like 3% damage based on your current weapon equip or based on the full damage of the hit damage (this can be huge for the Echo Knight)? But, yeah, clarification would be nice.
i think there is a bug, after the last update today is my first day playing bcs of my exams, and i did the cruicable and the boss fight it was so easy idk how but they died so fast and and the phase 2 boss died instantly after 2 min of fight, i did damage him a bit and he died instantly after some time, did something got buffed or some armor or enchantment or rune was broken? or a bug, it never happed to me before.
i was using 2 thistle ring and 1 plague ring.

No idea about bosses suddenly (and instantly) dying on their own, probably a bug.
OTOH, there is lots of ludicrously unbalanced things in the game. Healing/focus regain by multiple means being near the top (probably).
I honestly wouldn’t mind “sekiro” mode added at some point in the future. No bullshit runes, magic, ranged, effects, builds.
This is my up to date kill time of EK with the rings.
The post from 5th of may is out of date because they fixed the healing from the rings.

The issue is related with external damage where in this case is specific to reflect damage which includes a rune (thorns) and gear having damage reflect by whatever percentage. I’m actually glad posting a topic also show’s other similar topics by keyword associations. This game breaking bug has already been mentioned before but only partially which will also link it down bellow:
So i decided to show its full extent in other words, how deeper it goes. WIth the recent patch one thing did got fixed which is the crucible where reflect dmg on any mob as the final kill blow now does give the traces (resources for the echoes) mobs no longer stay “frozen” in a perpetual animation anywhere, not just the crucible and most bounty quests also seem fixed if the final ticking dmg is reflect the quest completes (i only tried it on 4 diferent bountie quests and all worked)
Now to the “deeper” part which remains to be fixed. Any mob still dying to reflect damage as the killing trigger still drops no loot and that also included experience (i can’t test that sadly due to being max level). In order to test this easily i searched for enemies which had garanted loot drop in this case being the Echo Knight Cyvion and Warrick the Torn second location later in the game and by loot drop i mean “Plague Ichor” which always drops regarless of loot chances.
If u do not wish to watch the full fight i added timestamps to easily arrive at the present reflect kill trigger neither did i edit any video so u can see the genuine article. They are all unlisted youtube videos.
