- I think that would be a great addition
- It would be fine, but sounds whatever/not that big a deal
- I think it would SUCK!!!
One handed weapons could be given a new move that can only be performed after blocking attacks
The player should be free to choose whether they wanna perform it, not do it, or throw any normal attack upon blocking an enemy.
A lot of ways to go about it, maybe it could be generalistically good, maybe it could give more focus than normal attacks, maybe more stun/poise damage.. just spitballing.
I thought of this after reading people mentioning that blocking is unpopular outside of builds with enchants that let you just kill everything with damage reflect effortlessly.
That might also help with making certain weapons have more identity, with certain classes having their own nice qualities in their shield counters (ex: spears can do it with the block still held, maybe less power to compensate)
Not to be confused with a riposte after parrying or something of the sort
As making one shield counter for every weapon obviously takes a lot of work, maybe each one handed weapon class/type could have its own shield counter shared across all its members, with no or just a few special cases.

Hmm.. I’m guessing others, like me, weren’t responding because blocking isn’t really something people like doing in NRftW.
Essentially, when it comes to this topic/mechanic, we don’t have much to add to the conversation.
It sounds like you want a new “energy meter” that builds as you block attacks, one that allows you to spend the “block energy” on unique attacks from your weapon.
It’s an interesting idea.
An alternative approach is to consider a unique “parry” with your weapon (built into and accessible when you block).
IE: You’re blocking, enemy attacks, you could stop blocking and parry or you could parry with your weapon as you’re blocking for a unique weapon attack, rather than just a stun.
This might help new players that’re interested in parrying but lack the knowledge and skill to do so.
Kind of a “safe way” to learn parry windows, as your block will reduce dmg you receive if you fail.
Like Elden Ring you mean?

i didnt think of anything like that, this seems a little convoluted. I was really just thinking of having a specific move you could perform immediatelly after blocking attacks, to see if it makes blocking be more popular and appealing in normal gameplay (that is : gameplay where you arent unkillable with damage reflect)
