Make blocking with a Shield more viable, engaging and fun pls.
Currently blocking with a shield takes damage, and that just feels bad.
Does not really make sense and is not fun at all; players will almost always rather dodge/parry making block too niche.
Suggestion:
Using and Holding BLOCK drains stamina.
Taking big hits from mobs/bosses takes big stamina damage.
Going to 0 stamina from blocking will stagger a player, immobilizing for X secs and taking 50% more damage.
I dunno, blocking is really overpowered build in my opinion. You can block literally everything, everythings dies. I managed to do all the content in hardcore mostly by blocking.
i would be good if you have a video of that. I don’t like block in this game because even with a big shield i’m getting damage, i only use shield to have a more wide parry window
It used to work the way you suggested, and lots of people did not like how it drained stamina, which then made it hard to follow up with attacks after blocking. You already have the poise mechanic which will stagger the player for blocking too much.
I use a light shield on my mage build and it’s great for when I want to rush down ranged attackers that send out lots of projectiles, blocking them as I approach. The needle Torn that toss spikes also do a vomit attack that knocks you back when you approach, but blocking it completely negates that.
I definitely prefer the current iteration of shields.
