Probably at a higher stamina cost and with no reprisal damage. The shield needs to not have its niche cannibalized by a stronger offensive weapon.
Alternatively, reprisal damage can go on 2H weapons, but in turn the shield can offer defensive benefits with a sturdy poise and a % damage to health and stamina reduction for 4-5 seconds after blocking, and blocking then empowers your outgoing damage and you gain increased stamina regeneration. So, shield is suited for a steady DPS and safer profile while the 2H weapon offers more burst.

Yeah I’m down with something a long those lines.
The thought was centered around a few things. Thomas doing a 180 on shield runes (WIP) and with the discussion of making each tier of shield more unique. Both sound like great future updates… Ane on top of that I was thinking of skill trees down the line.
A small shield IMO should excel at parrying and only be suitable for small weapon blocks (knife, dagger). So I’m curious what they look like in breach. And I like your idea of no reprisal damage. That said, a weapon blocking in combat isn’t all that different than a small shield.
Now while it’s not a deal breaker for me I could go either way, it could also be neat to “buff” 2H blocking with the use of a skill tree. It’s a meaningful buff based on a players investment so seems worth the trade up.
