Hi there.
I’m having an issue whenever I try to access my realm.
I’m always prompted to pick either my local save or the cloud save (which is now outdated).
That goes for character save and realm save as well.
Doesn’t matter which one I pick, I still have to pick it again if I return to the main menu and/or close the game.
This also prevents me from inviting people to my realm, as nothing happens when I click to “share” my realm.
With help of the discord mods, I already tried the following:
Verified file integrity via Steam
Disabling the cloud save and playing for a while, then enable it again.
Starting a new realm altogether to see if it unstucks the original realm.
Reinstalled the game.
Change my calendar’s format (a weird fix for a different issue, but it was worth the shot)
Random other tries, like accessing other people’s realms, etc (just to check if that wouldn’t “unstuck” my own realm.
The bug reproduces itself, so I’m constantly reproducing. As far as I’m aware, it’s not posted here and it happens whenever the game tries to load my save.
Something worth noting is that one of the mods mentioned my save looks really small (I’m at the endgame).
I don’t know if it was the latest hotfix, but right now I was able to share my realm (which didn’t worked before today). Once it becomes a shared realm, I was able to access it from the main menu and it didn’t trigger the cloud sync conflict.
Not only that, but kicking my friend (and making my realm private in the process), seems to solve the problem entirely.
Played fine up until today. Logged in and accidentally chose cloud not noticing it was days behind and now this pop up happens every time i load a realm. Steam cloud save is all good that i can tell. Seems to be on the games side not connecting to steam cloud?
Is it a bug.. well sure there are some bugs that can happen in every game because every game has a person who gets that one bug nobody else has gotten, Lets just hope that you aren’t connected that example
Its asking if you want to use the local save or the cloud save?
Here’s a few reasons for why:
If you restart game and do everything in this process very fast you can get this message.
Disconnects from network can give this message when your pc reconnect.
(I erased my essay here)Im stopping here as i can go on and on
this can happen for many reasons which im not gonna go into further, you can look into it if you want to know more about it, aswell as some different reasons that is more likely affected directly through our own gaming habits.(rushing in general wether it is to turn off pc or start another game, Steam Settings etc.)
What you can try is this
Force a Sync (PC/Deck):
Disconnect from the internet.
Launch the game to ensure your local saves are correct.
Exit the game and reconnect to the internet.
Restart Steam and launch the game to trigger a, “upload to cloud” prompt.
Verify Files: If sync is still acting up, you can verify the integrity of game files via Steam
If nothing here work you can always look for a solution elsewhere on this forum or on internet
Thank you silas! I didnt have the issue of not being able to share the realm or invite people. The fix that ended up working was inviting someone to my realm then joining the realm. After i was able to kick and have the personal realm again.
Hello Silas, this issue still exists and its very annoying having to choose all the time i log in a realm with one of my alts, even during a 2 minute period.. So i dont understand, steam saves to cloud and then for the next 2 minutes it doesnt?
This happens for both characters and realms.
Do we have any news on a fix for this? Is it a game problem or a steam problem?
I have no issues with my internet or anything else, i never go offline mode either.
The suggestions from Chriyuh was for the other guy that couldnt access his realm, it was not for this problem.
I can access my realms fine, its just that this message pops out constantly and i have to choose all the time and i find it very weird that it does that.
I think it started when i started sharing realms to trade with people, but maybe its a coincidence, i should add that the last 4-5 days there are 1-2 electricity power cuts (of 1-2 seconds) every day in the area that drop internet for the next 5 minutes.
I have tried restarting steam, verifying game files, restarting computer.
Even if it is because of the power outages why isnt it fixed after 1 day by itself by syncing the saves?
If you play offline only your local file is updated while the Cloud copy remains frozen in time. This creates a version mismatch leading to a sync conflict once you’re back online. They aren’t truly separate entities, but rather a local master and a remote mirror that constantly try to stay in sync.(Or stay in touch not always as one its a local backup on your pc, and the cloud is an internet required backup)
If the game or Steam crashes before the upload is finished, the Cloud won’t have your latest progress. (Even alt + f4 counts as a crash, its not a normal way to exit a game and can lead to sync issues, and even forcing a game off through task manager is bad, even if we have to do it sometimes.. it still doesnt take away the “bad”)
I believe its best to keep playing if you can handle it.. even if you fix it, power outages can just reset that fix.
You can still try turning off > the steam cloud in the steam Settings > then shutdown steam > restart your pc > start steam and turn on steam cloud
