Off-hand is not working (even after unlocking all main and off hand slots)

Hey! Currently enjoying the game a lot.

Found an issue: At some point my shield stopped working, now I’m forced to use two-hand weapons. Can’t also equip torches. I’ve been playing with a friend and he can equip shields without issue. I’ve unlocked all main and off hand slots and even when switching I can’t seem to make anything work on the off-hand.

Hi plaguemaster,

Do you have a screenshot perhaps?

Silas

Yes! Here’s a torch equipped

And here’s a wand and a shield equipped. I’ve removed all other gear to show it clearly.

Alright so I suspect you have accidently cycled to an empty off-hand weapon slot

The way they work in Wicked is that every slot is always cycled through, no matter if they have something in it or not. Basically, the game does not disregard any empty slots as means to always show an active weapon compared to your empty slots.

Please go into your controls, see which keybind/button is linked to “offhand item” and use that to see if the torch or whatever item pops up suddenly.

Let me know!

Silas

Oh wow, you are right

I thought, honestly, that cycling was supposed to cycle both main and off hand at the same time. So I was pressing Z thinking it would do it. But I just found out that X cycles only the offhand.

That’s surely confusing

Thank you!

There are no “weapon sets” currently. I’ve actually suggested this in the past, but again suggested it in a big thread I’ve made for experimental feedback. (Said post here) Things found in 4 hours (co-op test, played solo) - Wicked Experimental Branch - No Rest For The Wicked

It’s, as you found out, only cycling once on the main hand OR off hand, and goes to the right on the inventory page.

Because of this I will NEVER have more than 2 main hand weapons, and don’t expect I’ll ever have more than the 1 off-hand spot. (If I really need to change, like to have a torch I’ll manually swap.) That way any main hand swap is fast and easy, and I know it’ll be Main ←> secondary. (So like with my main that goes blood soaked sword ←> bow and back.) I found when I started EA that gets REAL confusing if you have more, because you aren’t just single tap swapping, sometimes you’d have to double tap to get back where you want. And since each swap takes time for the character to swap, that can literally kill you if you aren’t back to where you want immediately. Plus, on controller this means moving your movement thumb off of it’s position to press the swap. – And for off hand item, well I just haven’t seen any reason to have a 2nd, but I’m mostly melee all the time.
