Next location on the roadmap?

Make your bets everyone. Personally, I don’t think we’ll see Caylen anytime soon. Even though we got a sneak peek the area feels too much like endgame material. There is still one gate unaccounted for in Sacrament: the east gate next to the little farm on the lower districts. I’m thinking that will probably be the area to be added with the next big update.

But what could it be? we know about Tyr and Havenport, but those are supposed to be separate islands in the Sacra archipelago, meaning you can’t get there on foot. Still, the devs have been throwing a lot of lore about Havenport lately, with the Silverfish and Savor coming from there, references to the city being twin isles and having a famous giant seawall. All those references make me think we’ll go there at some point.

Still, my money is on Fort Reach. It’s not mentioned a lot, but it’s supposed to be a castle where the Inquisition is garrisoned. The last cutscene with Bainbridge really built them up as these evil bad guys, so I’m sure we’ll fight them eventually. And maybe finally unlock that bridge in the east of the Nameless Pass?

They are not. You can see the map here.

I would think that Heavenport it’s a late game because its a shipyard and the content update after 1.0 will be mainland.

I guess Tyr, Frozen Peaks, Ship Graveyard and River Pass could be in the next content update.

That’s awesome, where did you get that map? I’ve never seen it before. It makes sense Fort Reach is north of Merin, it must be the giant castle you see during the arrival cutscene.

I wonder what that settlement is between the village and the Nameless Pass. I know there is a closed gate connecting the 2, but I always assumed it was some sort of tunnel, didn’t expect a whole new area to be there.

No idea about Settlement. The map was posted on Discord by an official source,
yet it’s an unofficial map (bc it’s in development).

Nope, that castle it’s a late game thing, you would be able to buy it and so on (Said Thommas on Discord).

Anyway, I think we are 3 or 4 mayor content updates from 1.0 (if they release 3 or 4 zones per content, I guess). Some zones are not really playable though, like Marin Village and Sacrament. So maybe Fort Reach and Heavenport could be zones of encounters, trade and stuff but no “playable maps”. Unless they got destroyed and could became somewhat battelfields :face_with_crossed_out_eyes:

Bear in mind that height as dimention is not showed on the map. So we could have big caves and underground dungeons not displayed here.

Man, I just can’t believe this is the actual size of the map. It looks way to good to be true !
How many years before 1.0 ? This is huge !

No idea. I guess at least 1 year and a half more, maybe 2 or more years. The unofficial roadmap atm was The Breach refinement, co-op update, Sacrament Update (farming updates and similar stuff) and a new combat update (probably with some minor updates here and there, patchs, etc). Then I would say we may have a new content update, but I am just guessing.

1.0 happens in Isola Sacra and further contents will be DLC and according to podcasts and Discord. 2.0 will be Mainland with tons of new things. So we won’t see 1.0 release after all zones in Isola Sacra are released plus all the systems refined and optimized, it’s a long way there.

Hey Junn, from your point of view what do you think about deadline for next update which more story ? New map etc…

I don’t know really, but this is my educated guest. Based on the podcasts and Discord.
It seems that they are going to release 1.0 early than expected, so 2026 could be the year of full release.

There are upcoming updates but those are not content-campaign-history related. And those will happen at least this year, like co-op could be in the next couple of months and combat-classes update next, farming, etc. So I guess that the next content update could be on november-december (in the best scenario) or maybe feb.

Bear in mind that some maps-locations are not related to the main history, thus not all of the upcoming zones include a main campaign narrative. They could release new zones without new history content.

Anyways, considering that 2026 could be the year for full release we may have only one more content update, and then full release (because they will have to put new content also on the final release). After all, they have been saying that more updates will come after 1.0: like new end-game stuff, new crucible mods and so on. However, 1.0 would be the end of history related content (they will release more but as DLC).

So, summing up:
-They need and want to make a full release ASAP because console launch, they need that market.
-In order to do that they need to deliver full history, while delaying other updates not related to main campaing after 1.0 it’s expected.
-2026 could be the year of 1.0, usually summer it’s a good timeframe for game releases.
-We could have a new content update half time from here to summer, and then MAYBE 1.0

Remember I am just guessing based on my obsession to the game, listening Thomas’
podcasts, interviews and Discord.

Anyways, we are not that far away, maybe one year to full release. Remember that after “full release” (1.0) we will have more updates releated to gameplay and end-game stuff, BUT surley no more campaign content.

Personally, I don’t think we’ll see Caylen anytime soon. Even though we got a sneak peek the area feels too much like endgame material

Afaik Thomas said in an interview that Caylen is planned to be accessible only at 1.0 release. My thinking is we will be progressively advancing deeper and deeper into Caylen while taking occasional detours towards other areas for Main Quest reasons (like the Marin Village trip), up until we reach the very last level where we’ll have the game’s final confrontation.

Still, my money is on Fort Reach. It’s not mentioned a lot, but it’s supposed to be a castle where the Inquisition is garrisoned.

I doubt Fort Reach would be introduced without a sizeable story addition, since the Inquisition is one of the major factions. On my betting list that would put it among the last places to be added.

Since in today’s QA Thomas said we aren’t getting a progression to the story with the co-op update, my guess is either Ship Graveyard, Frozen Peaks, River Pass or Settlement. Wouldn’t make sense to add anything other than adjacent areas to what we’ve gotten already. My strongest bet is on Settlement because Moon does like to kill two birds with one stone and Settlement sits between Nameless Pass, Sacrament and the whole Marin area. That’s a huge amount of area interconnectivity opportunities for them to play with.
