New Exalt-Item System

I love the fact that we need to reach very end-game throught completing main story to exalt items now it feels more like a progression comparing before. But the problem is that exalting an item piece by piece… It’s a real nightmare at the beginning. Tried tiers for pestilences but it wasn’t satisfying enough in terms of risk/price balance. It feels like it should be eighter materials drop needs to be improved or current materials drop rate decrased (for the higher tiers aspecially) but exalting a whole item at once like before. I don’t know maybe whole new approach but currently it feels very overwhelming to exalt an item. What do you guys think?
