My overall "feedback"

Hello, a quick presentation, Im 40+ yo male, been playing video game basically “all my life” (and for many years also board game), so I have tried a wide variety of design and mechanics
Part 1, a quick background: Since the past 10 years I was mostly a big roguelike/lite players, Binding of Isaac, Dead Cells or Rogue Legacy to name the big ones, I really like these ideas or mechanics. Try various build, create your own, try to upgrade/unlock as you do runs and such, though not specifically their difficulty (I never 100% Isaac, for Dead Cells I only completed to level 1, only rogue legacy I completed to a high “new game+”)

Part 2, never liked Souls “mechanics”: NRFTW is basically the unique “UFO” of this “genre” that caught me offguard. But mainly because they removed what I disliked (mostly) of the souls genre. 1) losing resources use permanently on death 2)non farmable resources

Point im not going to approach since from what I understand they are going to be changed in a near future with the class system

  1. point allocation to stat
  2. equipment load
  3. more customization/uniqueness with talents (or similar idea)

Other point I will not talk because they already have big post talking about them

  1. friendly fire
  2. repair and durability

my current main an archer using the “unique” bow that fire 5 heat seeking arrow, so there a big of something to understand, yes, IM playing quite one of the “easy” mode I found compare to the 2 other builds I tried (faith caster and 2 handed big sword)

point 1: boss fights: well, obviously im not going to complaint with the easy “its too hard”, but I really think some are a bit too “overtuned”, mainly “The Lost Huntress” boss.
it’s at a certain level of difficulty its just not fun, this boss is just too quick and very hard to learn, I have just now completely been avoiding to do her fight because of that.
I think as a solo player boss are a bit too harsh, its giving you barely any chance to learn or have a upfight if you are a certain style of build, some hits can be hard to avoid and something very simple mistake can easily kills you

point 2: “grinding” to unlock the city stuff, im not sure how I feel about collecting resource AND waiting for the resources to process before using them, the same way I’m not sure how really interesting the “QTE” mechanic is fun after the 300th tree or rock you gather

point 3: way to many different resources, I think that just a personal gripe because at the start you have so little inventory spaces

point 4: itemization, well this is just a “big” problem with all ARPG with tons of loot, either Diablo, PoE or Borderlands, since so many items feel “useless” its make it finding a good roll very too “random” and make 99% of loot not interesting if it just selling fodder

point 5: magic casting feels “meh”, after a few level with a faith caster using the plague staff, and also a little bit of using fireball staff with a new character, casting is dull, not sure how I would improve it myself, the same animation is used for all casting, charging up to a 3rd level of cast (maybe its different on other no direct spell but I havent tested)

point 6: a few of what I would like to see, few personal option, like self found or easier crafting/changing item stats

point 7: several quality of life thing: why when looking at the map you can’t see the name of the whispers? why you dont see how many point you had sacrificed to unlock fast travel on a whisper? those are so simple thing I dont understand why they are not already in

Overall: I think this game is just incredible and have a big potential, right now its sits very very high in what I played in my previous years and again this is coming from someone that dont usually like very high difficulty, I think there is way to tuned a few things without changing too too much the core ideas of this game.

Continue this way and I appreciate the game you gave me!
